SUN PRAIRIE, Wisc. — August 10, 2016 — The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will visit the famed Angell Park Speedway in Wisconsin for the first time ever on Sunday, August 21 for the Sun Prairie Sprint Car Classic. The event will feature the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series plus the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association at the third-mile bullring, along with the Badger Midget Series.

Angell Park Speedway will become the eighth track in the state of Wisconsin to host the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series dating back to 1983, when the series raced at Cedar Lake Speedway for the first time.

The Sun Prairie Sprint Car Classic will mark the final stop of the season in Wisconsin for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Last month, David Gravel was victorious at Wilmot Raceway in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Badger 40, while Bill Balog scored his first-career Outlaws win at Beaver Dam Raceway in the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial in June. Donny Schatz and Logan Schuchart were also victorious on the western side of the state in July at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Leading the way to Angell Park Speedway for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is Schatz, the seven-time and defending series champion, who has won 16 races thus far in 2016. The North Dakota native has won seven times in his career with the Outlaws in the state of Wisconsin.

Gravel is currently second in points and has won seven races. Brad Sweet, who is third in points and his teammate at Kasey Kahne Racing, Daryn Pittman, who is fourth in the standings, have each also won seven times thus far in 2016. Joey Saldana, who has four victories rounds out the top-five. Shane Stewart is currently sixth in points, followed by Jason Johnson, Logan Schuchart, Jason Sides and Paul McMahan. Also competing full-time with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series this season are Jacob Allen, Greg Wilson and Clyde Knipp.

The Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has competed twice at Angell Park Speedway in 2016. Scotty Thiel was victorious in both of those races.
Jeremy Schultz, who has one win thus far in 2016, has used consistency, finishing in the top-10 in 15 of 19 races with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Series this season to sit atop the point standings. Thiel, who has a total of three wins, is currently second in points, followed by Scotty Neitzel, who has a pair of wins in third, Matt Vandevere in fourth and Kyle Marten rounds out the top-five.
