Ashland, WI — There is nothing better than a summertime party in northern Wisconsin, and on Saturday night that will be the theme at the ABC Raceway.
The award-winning three-eighths-mile red-clay oval will play host to its first-ever “Summer Blast,” a combination of family picnic, summer block party and fun-filled race night to be presented by Northern Wisconsin Fence of Phillips and Outlaw Graphics & Apparel of Ashland.
Races and fans are invited to be at the track early for a “happy hour” from 5:30-6:30 pm for generous food and beverage specials. Hot laps for the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks, and the ABC Six-Cylinders, will start at 6:15. Then, at 6:30, the drivers will park their race cars out on the track so that fans young and old alike will get a chance to visit with the drivers, collect autographs and pictures, and see the cars up close in a rescheduling of the “Meet the Drivers” session originally slated for June 4.

And even though the racing action will start shortly after 7 pm, the fun will continue both on and off the track throughout the evening. On the red-clay oval, all five divisions will compete in a full slate of qualifying heat races and feature events, while in the grandstands there will continue to be prize giveaways and specials. There will even be bike giveaways for the younger fans.
Even after the program is complete, the fun doesn’t stop, as there will be a “happy half-hour” from 10:30-11 pm, while a deejay will provide music for dancing and fun well after the racing is done.
With only four nights of racing scheduled for the remainder of the regular season, the on-track action should be at its best as drivers vie for their best possible finishing positions in the all-important divisional standings.
The Raceway’s live pre-race radio program, “Z-93 Race Night,” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and online at www.wbszfm.com, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information. Adult tickets are just $11 each, and kids ages 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult admission.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on anytime to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
