Parker Wins First Career IMCA Stockcar Feature at 141 Speedway
on July 17, 2016 at 9:18 am(Francis Creek, WI)- Christmas in July took place at 141 Speedway on Saturday Night with over 110 bikes given away to kids. Chase Parker received his own present and it was a brand new trophy courtesy of his first career IMCA Stockcar Feature win.
151 cars took to the speedway for a crack at their respective feature wins. Paul Diefenthaler won his sixth A Main Event in the Street Stocks. Shawn Kilgore won his second IMCA Modified Feature of the season. Logan Rhode joined Kilgore in the win column with two after his Brian Peterson Builder’s Grand National victory. Ryan Lemieux picked up his first win in the IMCA Sportmod division. Mike Meier earned the IMCA Sport Compact win.
R.M. Van Pay flipped his racecar on the opening lap of the IMCA Modified Feature event that immediately put out a red flag. Van Pay was good but his racer sustained race ending damage. The red flag would be the only halt to the event. When the hammer dropped Andy Kleczka flew to the front. He brought Jeremy Jacobs with him and eventually Shawn Kilgore. With Jacobs running low and gaining on Kleczka, this allowed Kilgore to make it a three dog race. Kilgore put his racer to the middle of the speedway and the trio went three wide for the race lead on lap six. Kilgore came out on top with Jacobs in tow. Jacobs pulled behind Kilgore and the duo would exchange the lead numerous times over the course of the entire feature. Each driver would take the lead using different lines. Kilgore would finally take the lead for good with four laps remaining. Kilgore moved to the bottom of the speedway and bested Jacobs in earning his second win of the season. Russ Reinwald finished third after starting 17th. Todd Dart ran down Andy Kleczka late and finished fourth.
Chris Malfroid looked locked and loaded in the beginning of the IMCA Stockcar Feature. Malfroid cruised around in front of the pack with Chase Parker his only threat. Parker tailed Malfroid and found his line coming out of turn four on lap nine. Parker took the lead and never looked back. The race was for second from then on. Shawn Wagner ran to the front using the topside of the speedway after starting 12th. Wagner knocked off a car a lap on his mid race run. Wagner got to second but didn’t catch the caution he needed and ran out of laps. Parker picked up his first career Feature win and earned the clean sweep on the night to make it sweeter. Wagner finished second. Dave Bouche had a stellar run to take third. Joe Brenner had his best career finish in fourth. Point leader, John Heinz finished in the top five.
Gabe Zellner started up front in the IMCA Sportmod Feature and led the first two circuits around the 1/3 mile. Ryan Lemieux gave chase and took control on lap three with a move down low. Lemieux would pull away from the field and never to be heard from again until back to back cautions on lap 14. When racing resumed Lemieux found big brother Randy Jr breathing down his neck. Ryan was able to hold off the big bro on his way to his first win of the season and finally shook off the bad luck. Randy settled for second giving the Lemieux brothers the 1-2 finish. Travis Arenz extended his point lead with his third place finish. Jacob Zellner came home fourth with J.J. Anderson fifth.
Chase Solomon and Noah Wachowiacz duked it out early in the Grand National Feature with Wachowiacz taking the honors to lead. He would lead until a lone caution on lap three brought everyone to his bumper. Tim Mueller used the caution to grab the lead immediately but he brought along Logan Rhode in the process. Rhode went down low on lap seven to grab the top spot. Rhode rode around the bottom while Kodi Wirtz got through the pack and got to second. Wirtz ran down the leader and with three laps to go made a bid for the lead. Wirtz ran the bumper of Rhode for a lap but Rhode stayed strong and pulled away over the final circuits to pick up win number two on the year. Wirtz finished second and extended his point lead. Greg Haese finished third in front of Mueller. Dan Schumacher finished fifth.
Brandon Ross started on the front row and stayed up front through a couple of early cautions in the Street Stock Feature. Shawn Haydon got to second and grabbed the lead on a lap six restart. Haydon was doing his thing up front while Paul Diefenthaler worked his way to the front. A caution on lap ten was the break Diefenthaler needed. Diefenthaler shot down low and flew into the lead with five laps remaining. Diefenthaler pulled away late to win his sixth Feature of the season. Haydon pulled into the claim area second with Mike Carter third. Allen Dillon finished fourth after starting 15th. Clint Evans rounded out the top five.
Mike Meier earned his first IMCA Sport Compact win with a dominating performance over the field. Shaun Bangart won a race long duel over Mike Zitzer which saw plenty of hard racing. Riley Perry finished fourth with Brian Watzka Jr fifth. The points battle tightened up as both the top two in points suffered race ending damage early in the event.
Next Friday Night, July 23rd the N.E.W. Truck and Tractor pull will be taking place at 7 p.m.
On Saturday Night, July 24th it’s the Johnny Greaves Stockcar Challenge starting at 6 p.m. Johnny Greaves with take on the winner of the IMCA Stockcar Feature at the end of the show in his Off Road truck.
