ABC to Host Super Stock Challenge Series on Saturday
on July 15, 2016 at 10:32 amAshland, WI — On Saturday night, the Northland Super Stock Challenge Series, presented by FastLane Motorsports & Custom Powdercoating of Ashland, will visit the ABC Raceway.
The Series, in its second season, will take place over three consecutive nights at three very different race tracks. After kicking off on Friday night at the AmsOil Speedway in Superior, the Series travels through Ashland before finishing up at the Proctor (MN) Speedway on Sunday, July 17. Along the way, upwards of 40 WISSOTA Super Stock drivers from three states and Canada are expected to compete for their share of a total purse currently set to exceed $20,000.
In 2015, Curt Myers of Cameron was unbeatable during the Series, capturing heat races at all three tracks and then sweeping all three features, and earned a healthy $4,500 in purse and points fund monies for his efforts. Myers continued on to win WISSOTA’s National Championship in the division.
As of press time, the total 2016 Series payout is set to include feature winner’s shares of $600 each at Superior and Ashland and $500 at Proctor, as well as $1,050 to the overall points champion. In addition, there is currently a $900 bonus available if a driver can sweep all three feature wins, as Myers did in 2015.
The top ten in final Series standings will receive points fund checks, and every driver who participates at all three tracks during the Series but finishes outside of the top ten in points will receive bonuses as well. To top it all off, the drivers who pass the most cars in each feature, as well as the one who passes the most cars cumulatively in all three features, will receive “hard charger” bonus monies, while race car chassis manufacturers Affordable Race Cars and FastLane Motorsports each have generous contingency plans awaiting the drivers.
At ABC, all five weekly divisions will be in action – the WISSOTA Modifieds, Midwest Mods and Pure Stocks, plus the ABC Six-Cylinders, as well as the Super Stocks. This will be a full points-paying show for all divisions, with qualifying heats and feature races for all classes.
The Raceway’s live pre-race radio program, “Z-93 Race Night,” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and online at www.wbszfm.com, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information. Hot laps begin at 6:15 pm, followed by the first of the two make-up features at 7. Adult tickets are just $11 each, and kids ages 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult admission.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on anytime to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
