Odyssey Fun Center Night At The Races And Wild Racing Action
on July 12, 2016 at 4:35 amFriday, July 8th, Manitowoc WI. – Eric and the crew from Odyssey Fun Center in Sheboygan Falls provided the fun and games before the races and large contingent of drivers provided some fast and dramatic on track action.

Manitowocs John Rothmund and Wayne Haines of Green Bay paced the field to the green, with Rothmund taking the early lead, only to be wiped out by caution for a spin by Andrew Meyerhofer (Menasha). Coming down to a complete restart, drivers trying to get an early jump caused another yellow as Travis Arenz (Sheboygan), Brian Bruechert (Kewaunee, Todd Jensema (Sheboygan Falls), Tom Schneider (Chilton), and Justin Green (Sheboygan Falls) were left in a pile in Turn 4, all cars were able to continue and lined up at the rear for the restart. Finally getting a good start to the show, Rothmund moved out front challenged by Jayden Schmidt (Seymour) and Haines, contact by Schmidt on the leader produced yellow on Lap 6. Schmidt invoked the tapout rule taking responsibility for the incident, sending himself to the rear and giving Rothmund his spot back.
Rothmund led Haines, Cody Schroeder (Manitowoc), and Travis Hansen (Brillion) back to racing, Schroeder and Hansen moved in to challenge the leader while Schneider, Arenz, and Bruechert were flying through the pack after the early incident. At the half way point, Rothmund held the lead, with Schroeder, Hansen, Sawyer Haese (New Franken), and Kevin Bethke (Neenah) pushing him hard. Caution on Lap 11 for Justin Bauer (Sheboygan Falls) and Schmidt spinning on the front stretch. Rothmund led the field to the line only to be slowed by caution a lap later for a barrel that had been thrown onto the track and dragged around. On the final restart Hansen got a huge drive on the outside, working around both Schroeder and Rothmund for the lead, while Schneider chased him on the cushion for second. Schneider worked around Hansen for the lead on Lap 17 and held on for the victory, with Schroeder, Rothmund, and Haese rounding out the top five. Schneider passed the most cars, picking up 12 positions on his way to the win

Jonathon Otte of Cedar Grove and Elkhart Lake’s Kevin Lubach led the field to green, with Otte grabbing the lead, but spins by Ryan Mueller (Manitowoc) and Jason Dyer (New Holstein) caused cautions on consecutive laps. Finally under green, Otte moved out in front followed by Lubach, Brad Juckem (Chilton), Brian Gilles (Plymouth), Tim Simon (Fond du Lac) and Brad Lubach (Kiel). Lubach took over the lead on Lap 4, with Gilles moving in to second and pushing him hard. Debris brought out the caution on Lap 13, setting up Lubach, Gilles, Juckem, B. Lubach, and Ryan Minster (Sheboygan) for a sprint to the finish. Lap 15 produced the final caution for an incident between Gilles and Brad Lubach, both drivers were removed for rough driving and sent to the pits for the night. Kevin Lubach paced the final 5 laps for the win with Donny Kulow picking up the most positions as he passed 6 cars.

Kaukauna’s JJ Tuyls and Scott Crowbridge (Burlington) paced the Modified field to green, but contact between Randy Markwardt Jr (Sheboygan) and Mike Klenz (West Bend) brought out the yellow before a lap was completed, both drivers were finished for the night. A complete restart brought the field back to green, with Tuyls taking the lead, but being overtaken by Jamie Schmidt (Seymour), until an incident between Rob Charapata and Tyler DeBouche (Green Bay) produced yellow on Lap 2. Schmidt led Troy Jerovetz (Green Bay), Tuyls, Joel Crowbridge (Union Grove), and Kyle Kudick (Two Rivers) back to green. Yellow lights back on a lap later as the earlier contact for DeBouche resulted in a broken rear end and debris on the track. This time Schmidt led Jerovetz, R.M. VanPay (Denmark), Tuyls, and Kudick back to green. VanPay chased down Schmidt for the lead, while Eric Scribner (Kiel) moved in to challenge Jerovetz. Contact between Jerovetz and Scribner brought out the final yellow on Lap 18, with Jerovetz done for the night and Scribner sent to the rear. VanPay, Schmidt, and Steve Schneider (Chilton) battled over the lead with VanPay taking the win, and Schneider passing the most cars with 14 positions gained.

Shawano’s Jeremy Kazynski and Jim Letizia (Milwaukee) led the 21 car Late Model field to green. Back to back cautions for spins on Lap 1, first by Dave Thomas (Milwaukee) and then by Derek Janke. Kazynski led the restart, with Letizia and Mitch McGrath (Waukesha) trailing. McGrath wasted no time as he split Letizia and Kazynski, jetting to the front. Mid pack, Jared Siefert (Luxemburg) and Tom Naeyaert (Shawano) methodically started moving forward as McGrath set a torrid pace and started lapping cars. At the mid way point it was McGrath, Russ Scheffler (Waukesha), Siefert, Turk Letizia (Milwaukee), and Naeyaert. Rick Scheffler (Waukesha) moved in to challenge Naeyaert for the top 5 through lapped traffic, and both of them worked around Letizia. McGrath cruised to the win, with Rick Scheffler and Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah) side by side at the line for 5th, with Scheffler taking the spot. Taylor Scheffler picked up the most positions passing 10 cars.

Hilbert’s Alvin Testrote and Matt DeWilde of Kaukauna brought the Sport Fours to green, with DeWilde leading the first lap, but Shawn Bangart (Chilton) overtaking him on Lap 2. Brian Johnson moved in to challenge Bangart, with Mike & Mitch Miller, both of Chilton, and Tony Fletcher (Greenleaf) pushing them hard. Caution on Lap 12 for debris bunched the field back together. Bangart led through the restart and had the field covered for the win.
