The event will mark the series’ first visit to the third-mile bullring since 2014.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is in the midst of a very busy month of July, which will see them compete 14 times in a 28-day stretch, at nine tracks in six states and one Canadian province.
This past weekend, Logan Schuchart scored his first-career World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin. Schuchart had to hold off seven-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz to score what was a very popular and emotional win, for the driver of the No. 1S for the Shark Racing team. Schuchart led early in the race, before trading the lead a couple of times with Joey Saldana, before holding off Schatz. Saldana crossed the line third, with Shane Stewart fourth and Rico Abreu fifth.
In the finale at Cedar Lake on July 9, Schatz picked up his series-leading 13th A-Feature win of the season, after trading the lead four times with Brad Sweet, in the first 24 laps of the 35-lap event. David Gravel finished second, followed by Daryn Pittman in third, Jason Johnson in fourth and Sweet in fifth. For Schatz, the win was third in the last five races for the series at the track.
Schatz was able to use his pair of top-two finishes to extend his lead in the series standings to 118 markers over Brad Sweet. In the battle for the third spot, Pittman is four points up on Shane Stewart, while Gravel is just two markers out of fourth. Joey Saldana is currently sixth in points, followed by Johnson, Jason Sides, Schuchart and Paul McMahan.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series opens the traditional “Month of Money” this week, with the Brad Doty Classic at Attica Raceway Park in Ohio, followed by the expanded three-night Kings Royal at the famed Eldora Speedway, with the winner on Saturday night pocketing $50,000.
