Oshkosh, July 1- The Oskosh SpeedZone Raceway hosted a big night of racing to kick off the 4th of July weekend Friday night that produced 6 first time winners this season.

The Nolte’s Auto Repair and Towing IMCA Sport Mods took the first feature flag of the night with Bernie Miller grabbing the lead through the lone caution of the race on lap 6. Miller continued to set the pace with Brock Saunders, Jeff Schmuhl, Kevin Bethke and Adam Peschek behind. Schmuhl tried the outside several times but Miller was quicker off each corner and held him at bay, until a power move to the inside entering turn three on lap 11 was able to secure the top spot. Schmuhl ran off the rest of the way to collect his first feature win of the season. Bethke secured the runner up finish with Miller taking his best finish for the year in third. Saunders, Tim Sheppard and point leader, Tom Schneider rounded out the top six.

The Gold Star Racing Products Grand Nationals saw their only caution for a 2 car crash in turn 2 on lap 2. Tim Reichenberger settled into the top spot and ran alone at the front while the battle stayed for the runn er up spot. Chase Solomon, Derek Schrauth, Brian Vinney,Jr and Jeff Richards stayed bunched the rest of the way. Reichenberger claimed his first feature win of the season with Schrauth ending his best run of the year holding off Richards for the runner up finish. Solomon, Vinney and Larry Richards made up the top six.

Brain Crapser took the initial lead as the Automotive Supply Co IMCA Modifieds took the track. Johnny Whitman powered by the elader on lap 3 and took off to hide leaving the battle for the runner up spot. Crapser, Kevin Baldry, Brian Drexler, Ed Lemay and Matt Klenz kept the group tight with Baldry holding second for most of the distance. With five laps left, point leader, Marcus Yarie and Tim Lemirande made their way into the top of the lineup. Drexler used the outside line over the final laps to challenge Baldry wile Yarie made it t tight three was battle running indeed. Whitman collected his first SpeedZone feature of the season with Drexler taking the runner up spot over Baldry and Yarie. Lemirande and Klenz rounded out the top six.

Rookie Adam Crapser set the pace in the Outlaw Chassis Street Stock feature with Jason Fairbank, Brandon Ross, Jeff Jungwirth, Dan Knaus and Jeff Wicinsky right behind. Jungwirht oved into the runner up spot on lap 3 and started working the inside of the leader. Wicinsky and Frank Knause moved into the top four just before the mid point of the race. Wicinsky brought out the lone caution of the race when he caught a tire in turn 2 which sent his car airborn. The car landed on the next tire in line breaking the front end and bounced again before crashing to a halt. Driver was ok but the car was done for the night. On the restart, Jungwirth was able to get to the inside and took the lead away from Crapser. Frank Knaus was moving forward and was able to take over the lead 2 laps later from Jungwirth, with Jesse Krahn joining the lead pack and taking 2nd with 5 laps left. Travis Van Straten and Jerry Winkler were working through tight traffic to the front. By lap 11, Van Straten was working on Parker for the runner up spot with Stolp and Winkler right behind . Van Strasten moved into the runner up spot on lap 13 and it took a couple laps to move right up on Hoernings bumper. Over the final 5 laps, Van Straten tried outside and then fought hard to look inside for a gap. Hoerning was up to the challenge, and a couple lapped cars held up Van Straten just enough to prevent a last lap charge. Hoerning picked up his first career division feature win after 3 years of competing. Van Straten settled for the runner up finish with Parker ending a strong run at third. Winkle, Stolp and Harley Simon rounded out the top six.

In the first 6 laps of the Ellington Mutual Insurance Company Dirt Devil feature, Seth Hickman, Taylor Becher, Jordan Klemmer and Kasey Gross all led laps. Once Gross took charge on lap 7, he opened a slight lead with Shaun Bangart making his move into second and pulled up on the leader. The pair wet at it for the next 6 laps with Gross able to hold off each attempt Bangart could try. On lap 17, as the leaders were exiting turn 4, the right front wheel broke off Gross’s cars, ending his bid and turning the lead over to Bangart for the final four laps dash.

Bangart, a 2 time defending division champ, was making his first run here this season and collected the feature win. Becher challenged over the final laps but settled for second. Wes Lungwitz, Jeremy Hames, Autumn Gill and Mark Pawlak made up the top six finishers.
