Jim Falls, Wisconsin (June 23, 2016) The Eagle Valley Speedway was in action on Thursday, June 23, 2016, with Kids Night brought by Budweiser and Rock Fest. All six classes of cars including the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds were in action. The crowd was greeted with perhaps the best tradition in racing where the kids and families are invited onto the race track to meet all the drivers and get autographs and treats. Smiles and laughter were heard everywhere as a few moments away from racing action pleased the young and the old. It ensures the future of our sport and allows the drivers exposure and a face can be placed with the car. Feature winners included Mike Anderson, Danny Richards twice, Michael Truscott, George Richards, and Armond Love.

The Modified feature pitted Ashley and Mike Anderson in the front row as Mike led the first lap and every lap thereafter. Mike stretched his advantage until the halfway point when he turned down the wick as Ashley continued to pound the speedway as he tried to real in the leader. He closed the gap, but Mike was in control and drove to the checkers for his fourth feature win of the season at Eagle Valley. Behind, Cory Bruggeman finished in third.

The Super Stock feature was led by Matt McEatheron until he was spun by Adam Soltis. Ricki Peterson was not able to avoid the leader and made heavy contact on the front stretch. McEatheron and Peterson both were eliminated and Soltis was charged with the foul and relegated to the rear. Danny Richards was scored the leader on the restart. Terran Spacek ran in second but Tommy Richards overtook the position and stalked his brother for the win. The two Richard brothers raced aggressively and cleanly as they ran nose to tail for lap after lap. Tommy searched for a way past his brother but Danny held his own. On the last lap, Tommy made a last ditch effort to steal the win coming off turn four as the two raced to the finish line but Danny was too fast and won the exciting feature. Smiles were abundant everywhere as the Richards family enjoyed their own show they gave the crowd in the stands.

The Midwest Modified feature saw Shane Halopka snatch the lead from his third starting position but soon Jake Smith used the low line to challenge for the lead. A caution flew resetting the field and the restart saw Smith and Halopka race side by side for the front for five laps in excellent racing action. Smith began to inch into the lead as Nick Koehler joined the battle to be the front runner but Koehler drew the caution as he spun on his own in turn two. As Koehler was relegated to the rear on the restart, Smith led but Michael Truscott proved he was a contender too as he drove low on the track to the lead as Koehler blasted from the back to fifth. A spinning Derek Haas reset the field and Truscott led them back to green. Halopka wasn’t finished as he raced into second and challenged for the win but Truscott lead at the finish line. Koehler finished his redemption run from the back to be scored in third by nipping Smith at the line. Gunnar Watkins rounded out the top five.

Ron Hanestad took the lead of the Street Stock feature from the outside of row one at the start. Mike Knudtson challenged for the point on the outside as Danny Richards slipped under both for first. Hanestad didn’t go away and continued to challenge Richards for several laps but Richards inched to a slight advantage. Knudtson began to spar with Hanestad for second as Richards took advantage and stretched his lead on his way to his second checkered flag of the evening. Knudtson secured second and himself stretched an advantage over third finishing Hanestad. Dalton Hazelton finished in fourth as Travis Hazelton was scored in fifth.

The Pure Stocks saw Nicholas Hazelton grab the lead from row two and continued to lead for four laps until, once again George Richards drove low to the point. Lucas Kallenbach overtook second and challenged for the win until he broke and retired late in the event. Richards won yet another feature in his dominating season as Hazelton finished second over Pat Smith and James Thur.

The Hornets were paced by Brett Slowiak and Dan Prissel as Prissel moved to the point early. Armond Love raced from sixth to drive under Prissel for the lead. Love drove a rapid pace and was in heavy lapped traffic at the halfway point but had no issues driving to the checkered flag. Prissel raced in second until he was over taken by Derrick Johnson on the final circuit. Chad Prissel and Jess Seim rounded out the top five.

The Eagle Valley Speedway will return to racing action on Thursday, June 30, 2016, with River Country Coop night featuring all six classes of cars with the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds be in action.
