(Francis Creek, WI)- Shawn Kilgore took R.M. Van Pay to slide job city in the IMCA Modified White Race to pick up the $1000 pay day that came with the checkered flag.
Johnny Whitman charged from behind Kilgore and took home the second checkered flag in the IMCA Modified Finale by outrunning him on the final lap.
145 cars entered the pits to roam around the 1/3 mile. Feature winners included Kyle Frederick (IMCA Stockcars) Vince Engebregtsen (IMCA Sportmods) Tim Mueller (Grand Nationals) Paul Diefenthaler (Street Stocks) and Shaun Bangart (IMCA Sport Compacts.)

Jay Matthias led the opening lap of the IMCA Modified Feature from the pole. Mike Mashl charged to the outside immediately and grabbed the lead on the second circuit. Mashl moved down on the track which allowed R.M. Van Pay and Shawn Kilgore to make it to the leader’s back bumper. Van Pay stayed high on the track with Kilgore and the garnered the top two spots on lap thirteen. Van Pay stayed the commander until the only caution would fly with five laps remaining. Kilgore worked his racer around the 1/3 mile down low with Van Pay working the top shelf. With three laps remaining, Kilgore tried to move up in front of Van Pay down the backstretch but Van Pay fought him off. With two laps remaining, Kilgore performed the perfect slide job off turn two and snatched the lead. Kilgore picked up the $1000 pay day in front of Van Pay. Mashl ran to third with Jay Matthias and Luke Lemmens rounding out the top five.
Shawn Kilgore started on the pole of the second IMCA Modified Feature based on his low point average. Kilgore pulled away and seemed to be on his way to his second win of the night. Johnny Whitman had other plans. Whitman started in the seventh position and worked his way to second. Whitman tracked down Kilgore from a half a straightaway back. Whitman moved inside Kilgore with two laps remaining and were even at the line. Kilgore bested Whitman coming to the white flag. On the final lap, two sets of drag races were held by the duo. Kilgore won the battle down the back stretch but Whitman won the war on the front stretch and picked up the win right in front of Kilgore. Josh Long finished third. T.J. Smith finished fourth with Tyler Hackett fifth.

Second year driver Joe Brenner looked impressive early in the IMCA Stockcar Feature event. He held the lead through a series of cautions. The cautions allowed Dave Bouche to draw near and on lap nine he made a pass for the race lead. Kyle Frederick came with Bouche and the two put on a clinic of side by side racing. The duo would exchange the lead over 6 laps alternating the lap leader. Frederick would eventually find enough bite to put a car length between himself and Bouche. Frederick would win his third Feature of the season in front of Bouche. Rookie Aaron Stolp finished third. Brett Wenzel bested John Heinz to the line for fourth.

A three-wide battle on the opening lap of the IMCA Sportmod Feature saw Jerry Duggan take charge. Duggan would lead until a restart put Vince Engebregtsen on the leader’s coat tails. Engebregtsen would fly passed Duggan and never relinquish the lead. However, Cody Schroeder tried every line throughout the race to get passed Engebregtsen. Engebregtsen would have to stay sharp and he did. Engebregtsen picked up his first career 141 Feature win. Schroeder settled for second Jacob Zellner racing to third. Bruce Belland finished fourth with Mark Howe fifth.

Tim Mueller started his rookie campaign in the Brian Peterson Builder’s Grand National division this season. Mueller can now say he is in the Grand National Feature win column. Noah Wachowiacz led from the pole with Tim Mueller coming quickly behind him from his fourth starting position. Mueller went up top and checked out in picking up his first career Grand National Feature win. Dustin Weiss finished second in his visitor roll. Point leader, Kodi Wirtz finished third after starting 11th. Don Sorce Jr, finished in fourth after coming from the 15th starting spot. Shawn Schmitt rounded out the top five. The race went green to checker.

Zach Spangenberg and James Dahlstrom took their turns as the leader in the Street Stock Feature. Unfortunately for them, Paul Diefenthaler was too quick on this night. Diefenthaler moved into the lead on lap six and never looked back. Ed Anschutz was able to take one crack at the leader but couldn’t find an established line that worked. Diefenthaler extended his point lead with the dominant win over Anschutz. Clint Evans finished third in his first run of the season. After post-race inspection, Dave Gauger Sr was awarded fourth.

Point leader, Mike Zitzer seemed to be in command of the IMCA Sport Compact Feature until the halfway point when Shaun Bangart came calling. Bangart went for the race lead down low. Zitzer tried to the protect the bottom and came down into Bangart. A flat tire ended Zitzer’s race. Bangart cruised to his second win of the season. Ethan Beattie finished second with Alvin Testroete third. Mitch Meier and Tony Fletcher finished fourth and fifth.
