Ashland, WI, June 11 — The ABC Raceway announced during its race program on Saturday night that it will induct nine new members into its Hall of Fame in August.
The Class of 2016 Inductees were nominated by fans and by the Raceway’s Nomination and Selection Committee, based upon their achievements, accomplishments and records of success in stock car racing during the northern Wisconsin speedplant’s 50-plus years of existence.

CG Bretting Manufacturing, Co, Inc, of Ashland was selected as a unanimous inductee based on its longtime and ongoing service to the Raceway, its drivers and the racing community as a whole. The Bretting family and their business’s many employees have been actively involved in support of the activities at the Raceway since the track’s earliest seasons.
Four inductees were elected in the Volunteers & Contributors category, which recognizes those individuals and families that have donated a minimum of ten years of service and are recognized for their significant positive contributions to the overall success of the Raceway. The four inductees include Kurt Beeksma, Ray & Dawn Berglund, Don & Alice Hudack, and Rudy & Lorraine Marincel.
Four former racers were also chosen for the Class of 2016: Mel Ferguson, Jerry Hartman, Johnny Johnson and Ron Weinberger. In order to be eligible, drivers are to have been retired from active racing for a minimum of five seasons, and their selection is based upon their accomplishments at the ABC Raceway, their loyalty to the track, and their actions as ambassadors of the Raceway when competing at other tracks.
The Class of 2016 brings the total to 30 inductees that have been so honored since the Raceway founded its Hall of Fame during its 50th anniversary season in 2014.
A special luncheon celebrating those chosen will take place on August 13, and the inductees will be formally introduced at that evening’s race event at the track.
