Ashland, WI — One of the most anticipated race nights on the ABC Raceway calendar comes up on Saturday, when Little Caesar’s Pizza of Ashland presents the annual Kids’ Meet the Drivers Night.
Prior to race action, drivers will bring their race cars onto the front straightaway of the three-eighths-mile red clay oval located just south of Ashland, at which time fans young and old alike will be welcomed onto the track to get an up-close look at the cars, meet the drivers, and get autographs, pictures and other treats.
“It’s one of the great traditions at our track,” according to Raceway board president Eric Erickson, “and it’s one of the most popular events on the schedule of nearly every short track in racing today.
“It’s especially cool for the younger kids, who get to meet their heroes and see the cars up close. The looks on the kids’ faces and their reactions are really special. And the drivers truly enjoy the chance to meet their fans.”
Immediately following the meet-and-greet session, the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and ABC Six-Cylinders will hold their make-up features from the shortened May 21 race program, and then the Raceway will get into its regularly-scheduled slate of heats and features for the Sixes and WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Mods and Pure Stocks.
The make-up features for the Mods, Supers and Pure Stocks are currently set for June 11.
The Little Caesar’s Pizza store in Ashland is offering a coupon worth two dollars’ off of an adult admission ticket with the purchase of one of their “Hot ‘n’ Ready” pizzas.
Younger fans ages 3-8 are also invited to sign up for the ABC Raceway Kids’ Club at the track just prior to the races this Saturday. Included in a membership are a Kids’ Club t-shirt, concession coupons, a checkered flag and more.
The Raceway’s live pre-race radio program, “Z-93 Race Night,” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and online at www.wbszfm.com, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information.
Hot laps begin at 6:15 pm, and the first of the three make-up features will start at 7. Adult tickets are just $11 each (or $9 with the Little Caesar’s coupon), and kids ages 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult admission.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on anytime to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
