What started off as a great evening for racing turned to a steady downpour just as the checkers flew for the Aldag-Honald Mechanical Sprint Car Feature. There were 96 cars signed into the pits on this Memorial Day Weekend.

Johnsonville Sausage Late Models rolled trackside first with Tony Peterson (Big Bend) and Brad Mueller (Random Lake) setting the pace for the 25 lap feature event. Peterson jumped out to an early lead with Justin Schmidt (Cleveland) trying to take second from Charlie Schmidt (Oostburg). Dave Thomas (Franklin) was side by side with Randy Markwardt (Sheboygan) for seventh. Peterson pulled away from the field and was gaining on lapped traffic of Jim Letezia (Milwaukee). Mark Rose (Elcho) and Phil Rehberg (Waukesha) both left the track to the attention of their crews. Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah), Chris Carlson (Union Grove) and Charlie Schmidt were three wide coming out of turn 4 on lap 10. Justin Schmidt was flying and passed Peterson on the inside to take the lead on lap 12. Taylor Scheffler (Waukesha) went inside Jim Schmidt (Cleveland). That battle was not over, they both decided to go inside Charlie Schmidt for position. They touch resulting in Charlie Schmidt pulling into the infield. Brad Mueller was on a mission and slowly gained on Peterson for second, catching him in the corners and loosing Peterson on the straightaways. Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah) carefully contemplated his pass of Mueller on lap 18. Mueller gets high coming out of turn 4 and his rear end slides out and slams the front stretch wall, continued to race like nothing was wrong. Justin Schmidt was still smooth sailing out front with Buhler and Mueller in tow as the white flag came out. Taylor Scheffler attempted to go inside Peterson, Peterson gets high and slaps the back stretch wall and then comes to a rest by the pit entrance bringing out our first caution. Since the white was displayed the race is over. Justin Schmidt wins followed by Buhler, Mueller, Taylor Scheffler and Carlson. Hard Charger passing 10 cars was Taylor Scheffler.

Heat Winners: Randy Markwardt (Sheboygan), Taylor Scheffler (Waukesha)

Aldag-Honld Mechanical Sprints pushed off next with clouds rolling in and lightening to the west. Kevin Karnitz (West Bend) was unable to make the call so our alternate of Robby Wirth (Milwaukee) was in. Mitchell Yurmanovich (Cascade) and Shane Wenninger (Kewaskum) were the pole cars. The green flags waved and Wenninger was gone with the lead. Kurt Davis (West Allis) went outside Yurmanovich for second. Jeff Ludwig (Fond du Lac), Will Gerritts (Waupun) and Brandon McMullen (Plymouth) were three wide deep in the pack. Donny Goeden (Kewaskum), Yurmanovich and Ken Jay Fiedler (Sheboygan Falls) battle over ninth for a few laps. Wayne Modjeski (Oak Creek) and Chris Clayton (Waldo) run side by side. Goeden won his battle and new sights on Doug Wondra (Oakfield) then Danny Schlafer (Sussex). Wenninger was sailing, picking off one lapped car at a time. Jim Melis slid past Davis to take over second for a few laps and Davis just flew back past. Davis had sights on the leader and not looking back. Brandon Thone (Plymouth) left to the attention of his crew. Light drizzle of rain started falling; officials watching the track conditions. Tim Haddy (Waupun) joined in on the fun taking over third. Brandon McMullen (Plymouth) up to seventh with his sights on Schlafer for sixth. Cars were running all groves of the track as Wenninger was still in control with Davis closing in. Davis passed Wenninger on the outside while maneuvering through lapped traffic and going three wide for the lead. Wenninger not going down without a fight, tries back on the low side and has Davis for a corner. Jim Melis attempted to hold off Donny Goeden for third, racing nose to tail and side by side for a few laps. Davis slid low to block Wenninger. Tim Haddy was there but not enough as the checkers waved. A new track record and a clean sweep for Davis, followed by Wenninger, Haddy, Goeden and Melis. Hard Charger passing 13 cars was Brandon McMullen.
