Hackett Wins by Bumper on Last Lap Victory at 141 Speedway
on May 22, 2016 at 9:58 am(Francis Creek, WI) – Tyler Hackett only led one lap in the IMCA Modified Feature. It just so happened to be the most important one. Hackett beat Russ Reinwald by mere inches at the line to pick up his first win of the season. Hackett started 12th on the field.
155 cars entered the pits on the beautiful night for racing.
Other winners on the evening included: John Heinz (IMCA Stockcars) Mark Schuenemann (IMCA Sportmods) Logan Rhode (Grand Nationals) Paul Diefenthaler (Street Stocks) and Brody Rivest (IMCA Sport Compacts.)
Russ Reinwald started up front in the IMCA Modified Feature and was hooked up down low. Reinwald blew away the field and left the battle for second. A couple of cautions would not halt the leader in continuing to pull away. Tyler Hackett started in his 12th starting spot and ran the extreme top of the race track to get to the front. Hackett big pass of the night was a four-wide pass immediately followed up by a three-wide pass to get into the top five. He then clicked off a car off the corners until he found himself in second with seven laps remaining and a straightaway disadvantage. Reinwald stayed down low with lapped cars slowing his progress allowing Hackett to get to his bumper as the yellow flag flew with two laps remaining. On the restart, Hackett charged hard up on top and edged Reinwald down the back stretch. Reinwald found the speed to lead coming to the white flag lap. The duo drag raced the entire final lap. Reinwald tried to find a little speed on the final corner and came up the track but Hackett had just enough speed on top and edged Reinwald at the line for the win. Andy Kleczka came home third with Jeremy Jacobs finishing fourth. Brad Theys ran to a fifth place finish.
Aaron Stolp led his first laps in an IMCA Stockcar Feature to start out the main event. Troy Muench shot from his ninth starting spot to second on lap three and proceeded to take the lead from Stolp on the next circuit. John Heinz and Dave Bouche both came with Muench to the front and put him under attack almost immediately. A couple of yellows mid race allowed everyone to clear their thoughts and get their plans figured out. John Heinz stayed right down low on the restart and grabbed the lead off of turn four on lap eleven. He never looked back and picked up his second win of the season. Dave Bouche made a pass for second on Muench who settled in for third. Shawn Havel finished in the top four with Paul Holschuh finishing fifth.
2015 Champion Hunter Parsons showed the way around the 1/3 mile to start the IMCA Northern Sportmod Feature. Parsons would lead until a caution flag would fly on lap seven. Enter Mark Schuenemann. Schuenemann had tried different lines to get to the front and the race winning pass came down low on lap seven. Schuenemann would have to deal with some cautions mid-race but stayed tough and picked up his first career IMCA Sportmod Feature win. Kevin Bethke won the hard fought race for second over Travis Arenz. Cody Schroeder finished with another top four on the weekend. Parsons completed the top five.
Jason Haag led the opening lap of the Brian Peterson Builder’s Grand National Feature. Logan Rhode made a three-wide pass for the lead on the second lap and never relinquished the lead. Rhode had to deal with one caution on lap 11. Kodi Wirtz made his way to second and tested the durability of Rhode’s bumper late. Rhode stayed true to the number one position and picked up his first victory of the season in front of Wirtz. Shawn Schmitt ran to third. Derek Schrauth finished fourth in his first run at the speedway this season. Terry Van Roy finished fifth.
Allen Dillon ran up front to start the Street Stock Feature before Jordan Parma came up on top in the battle for the lead. Parma used the top line on the speedway to pull the field around the track. Paul Diefenthaler charged forward and was on the leader’s bumper when the caution flew on lap ten. Diefenthaler ran to the lead on the next lap and built a straightaway lead with five laps to go. A caution flew with four laps remaining but Diefenthaler was too strong for the field. He picked up his second straight win of the season. James Dahlstrom made a late race charge to finish second. Andy Fuhrmann finished third with his own late race charge. Jordan Parma ran to a season best fourth. Eric Turner finished fifth.
Brody Rivest only led one lap but it was the last in the IMCA Sport Compact Feature. Rivest picked up the win. After post-race tech saw disqualifications the top five was Rivest, Mike Zitzer, Jeremy Hebel, Mitch Meier and Ryan Georgia.
The Red Race for the IMCA Modifieds will take place at 141 Speedway Next Saturday Night, May 28th.
The Nathan Bouche Memorial Race for the IMCA Stockcars will also be taking place.
Both the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Stockcars will race for $1000 to win. Both divisions will be draw/redraw.
