Jim Falls, Wisconsin (May 05, 2016) Eagle Valley Speedway presented double features in four classes of cars as part of their Thursday night racing program. Gorgeous weather greeted the race fans as the Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds were all in action. Make up feature winners included Matt Leer, Tommy Richards, Mike Knopps, and Derrick Jonson. Regular night feature winners saw Mike Anderson and Shane Halopka win as Tommy Richards, Mike Knopps, and Derrick Jonson doubled up feature wins on the night.

The Modified make up feature saw Matt Leer and Mike Anderson on the front row as the two led a small but star studded field to the start. It was Leer claiming the lead as Anderson and Kevin Adams scrambled for the runner up spot. The lone yellow of the race flew as Anderson spun in turn four, eliminating Leer’s advantage. Leer had no problems on his way to the checkers however, as he drove the high groove to the win. Adams followed him home likewise, followed by Ashley Anderson, Mike Anderson and Paul Niznik.

The Super Stock make up feature pitted Tommy Richards and Mark Stender in the front row at the drop of the green. It was Richards leading lap one but Curt Myers used the low line to snatch the top spot one lap later. Stender battled with Eric Olson for third as Olson claimed the position. Myers looked destined to drive off to a dominating win when mechanical issues saw him pull into the infield and Richards inherit the lead. As the race continued Richards stayed comfortably out front on his way to the checkered flag as Olson and Stender fought for runner up. Olson got the best of Stender in the spirited battle that went down to the final circuit. Tarran Spacek and Luke Schultz rounded out the top five.

The Pure Stock make up saw George Richards and Todd Roshell at the front as Richards took the early lead. Roshell found himself in a battle with Mike Knopps for second as Richards looked to drive away into the night. Knopps took the runner up position after a good door to door run with Roshell. Suddenly, Richards suffered mechanical woes and retired from the event. Knopps took the point and drove the remaining distance to the win. Roshell, Nicholas Hazelton, Cody Tisdale, and James Thur finished second through fifth.

A huge group of Hornets pitted Chad Prissel and Travis Hoff on the front row at make up feature time. It was Armond Love taking the lead at the end of lap one as Prissel followed. Eighth starting Derrick Johnson drove up to fight Austin Berger for the third spot. Prissel pulled off the track as Johnson had claimed third and took over second. Johnson used the low line to track down the leader and make a bid for the win. The two raced door to door as Johnson eventually claimed the spot and drove to the checkers. Love followed with Sean Svee, Kasey Gross, and Dan Prissel filling out the top five.

In the regular night racing action, The Modifieds were paced by Paul Niznik and Mike Anderson. Anderson drove hard from the outside row looking for the low groove and the lead. Matt Leer drove to second, Ashley Anderson third, and Kevin Adams in fourth. Adams had worked his way to third as a lap nine caution on a spinning Brad Seavers reset the field. One the restart, Adams took the high line as Leer spun and Jay Richardson was relegated to the rear. The next attempt at the restart saw second place Leer choosing the outside of row two. Anderson pulled out into the lead as Adams moved into second. Ashley Anderson overtook third and fourth running Leer retired from the event. Anderson stayed down low as Adams hunted for a quicker line. Adams discovered driving in high in turn one and diamonding off the corner. He gained terrific momentum and began to wrestle with Anderson for the lead. Adams found himself partly in the infield in turns three and four trying to get below Anderson’s ultra-low line. Anderson was too strong and did not show fault as the two put on a great show to the finish. Anderson won his first feature of the year in his new SSR as Adams finished a very strong second. It was Ashley Anderson, Paul Niznik and Jay Richardson in the top five.

The Midwest Modified feature saw Antonio Pintaro and Michael Truscott on the front row. In a race filled with twists and turns in the plot at the end, Truscott took the early lead. It was Shane Halopka to second in a terrific battle for position with Nick Koehler. Koehler took the spot as the race settled in coming to the white flag, Koehler squeezed down low in turns one and two inside of Truscott. Contact sent Truscott around, setting up a green, white, checkered dash for the win. Truscott led the two lap sprint as Koehler was relegated to the rear on the restart. In turn two, third place Bob Wood spun as Pintaro was tagged with the caution. Again Truscott led the field to green as Halopka took the lead down low at the drop of the white. Koehler, who had a terrific restart which included a bold high side move found himself in third. He too slipped inside of Truscott on the final circuit to claim second. Truscott finished third ahead of Wood and Pintaro.

The Super Stock field was paced by Keith Corcilious and Adam Soltis. It was Soltis bolting to the point as Mark Stender drove the high side into second. Eighth starting Tommy Richards moved to fourth in the first circuit. Soltis held his own in the low line as Richards eased past Stender into second and began to stalk the lead. At the halfway point, Soltis was negotiating lapped traffic with Richards in his shadow. It was Soltis leading lap 19 as the white flag flew but on the backstretch of the final circuit of the Eagle Valley Speedway, Richards slipped under the leader and drove to the checkers for his second feature win on the night. Solits’ first ever Super Stock win was forced to wait for another night as he drove to second at the finish. Stender beat Eric Olson and James Cimfl rounded out the top five.

The Street Stocks saw CJ Wagner and Dalton Hazelton up front as Wagner led early. It didn’t take Danny Richards long as he drove three wide for second and under Wagner for the lead. Travis Hazelton moved into second as Kolby Kiehl made a bid for the spot. Contact sent Hazelton around and Kiehl to the rear of the filed on the restart. It was Richards driving into the sunset for yet another feature win as Dalton Hazelton came on and drove to second. Kolby Kiehl recovered for third as Travis Hazelton and Wagner finished fourth and fifth.

Dustin Holub and James Thur lead the Pure Stocks to green but George Richards moved to the front early. Eighth starting Mike Knopps made his way to second and the yellow flew for the slowing Cody Tisdale. It was Richards on the restart with Knopps on his bumper. Knopps used the low line to pass for the lead but Richards battled back door to door at the drop of the white. Knopps was too strong though as he retained the lead and was followed to the checkers by Richards. The top five included Todd Roshell, Lucas Kallenbach and Nicholas Hazelton.

Once again, it took three heats to decide the starting lineup of the Hornet feature as Brett Slowiak and Chad Prissel earned the front row. It was Prissel to the front as ninth starting Derrick Johnson carved his way to second. A caution flew for debris and on the restart, Johnson hounded Prissel for the lead. He looked high and then used a cross over move to drive to the point. Dan Prissel Sean Svee, and Armond Love found themselves three wide for third. When all settled, it was Johnson comfortably over Chad Prissel who had distanced himself from third through fifth, Dan Prissel Sean Svee, and Armond Love.

The Eagle Valley Speedway will return to racing action on Thursday, May 12, 2016, as all six classes of cars with the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds take the track.
