(Francis Creek, WI)- Kyle Frederick will leave opening night at 141 Speedway as the IMCA Stockcar point leader after winning the IMCA Stockcar Feature.
Kodi WIrtz lead every lap enroute to his Brian Peterson Builder’s Grand National Feature.
The IMCA Modified, IMCA Sportmod, Street Stock and IMCA Sport Compact Features were all cancelled due to track conditions. The safety of the drivers was the factor in cancelling the rest of the event. All Feature qualifiers recieved 21 points and equal pay.
Kodi WIrtz was a Grand National Championship contender last year and looks to be in top form early in 2016. Wirtz started up front and quickly showed his dominance. The only halt to his win was on lap 14 when the lone caution flag waved. This allowed Charlie Sancinati and Steven Wirtz one last chance at the leader. Sancinati was able to stay with the leader but never make a pass for the win. Kodi Wirtz picked up win #1 of the season in front of Sancinati. Steven Wirtz had a brilliant run with a third place finish. Greg Haese and Dan Sorce rounded out the top five.
The caution free IMCA Stockcar Feature rolled off second. Kyle Frederick used all the tack in the track to put his 50F solidly up front. Frederick put his racer on cruise control early as a great battle ensued behind him for second. Shawn Havel flew to the front of pack and challenged Frederick. The duo ran side by side early but Havel would fade. Frederick ran down lapped traffic and took his time getting through. Frederick picked up the win in comfortable fashion. John Heinz ran down Havel and finished second later in the contest. 2015 Champinon Brett Wenzel finished fourth with Troy Muench finishing fifth.
On the first lap of the IMCA Northern Sportmod Feature, Robby Thiel flipped his car in turn three. Track officials decided to call the rest of the evening’s events for driver’s safety.
Next Saturday NIght, April 30th will be the Red, White and Blue series opener. The IMCA Modifieds will be racing for $1,000 to win. The winner also receives their name on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star race at the IMCA Super Nationals.
