Menomonie, Wisconsin (April 22, 2016) the Red Cedar Speedway Kid’s Club Night presented by Sport Rider provided terrific racing action on a cool spring evening as early season racing saw several travelers. Seven classes of cars took to action as the Hornets, Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, Modifieds, and Late Models took to the track. Feature winners included Jake Redetzke, Kevin Adams, Curt Meyers, Grant Southworth, Tim Johnson, Kent Harmon, and Derrick Johnson.

The T.L. Sinz Plumbing Late Models heats were won by Rick Hanestad and Late Model rookie Jesse Glenz as Mike Prochnow and Jake Redetzke led the feature to green. Redetzke immediately grabbed the point and drove nonstop to the checkers in a convincing fashion. It was Jesse Glenz, fresh off his first Late Model feature win the previous Saturday who claimed second and held the position the entire event. Seventh starting Jimmy Mars drove through the pack to claim the third position as Prochnow was relegated to fourth and John Kaanta made a last lap pass of Hanestad for fifth.

The Tim’s Automotive Modifieds heat winners were Ashley Anderson and Neil Balduc as Tim Johnson and Kevin Adams held the front row of the feature. Adams immediately moved to the front on the cushion but the yellow flag flew before lap one was completed and a full restart was in order. Again, Adams moved to the high side and drove the distance to the win. Rookie Modified driver, Cory Bruggeman, who also won a feature the previous week, moved to second and flexed his muscles. Mike Anderson used the low line to overtake third and move in to challenge Bruggeman. Mike Anderson was able to overtake second and tried in vain to reel in the leader. Eighth starting Ashley Anderson moved to third and closed on second but finished behind Mike Anderson at the line. Bruggeman held onto fourth as Matt Leer finished in the fifth spot.

The Johnson Motors Super Stocks included heat winners Bart Steffen and Curt Myers as they were led to green by Rick Hallquist and Lucas Plank in the feature action. Hallquist spun in tur two on the first lap and was relegated to the rear. On the second attempt at a start, Plank took the point. However, the eyes were all on row four as Tim Johnson and Myers carved their ways to the front. Gunnar Watkins claimed the lead as Myers ran him down and took the spot. The two car battled back but Myers had nothing to do with it and retook the position and stretched the lead. Late in the race, Tony Falkner broke down directly in front of the leader. Myers narrowly avoided a collision and after the yellow, he paced the field back to green with five laps remaining. Watkins struggled on the restart and Johnson took advantage. Johnson then dove low on the leader but Myers held his position and stretched the gap to the checkers. Johnson followed home in second as Plank claimed third, followed home by Watkins, Jesse Redetzke, and Super Stock rookie, Adam Soltis.

The Southworth Chevrolet Midwest Modifieds had four heats won by David Swearingen, Curt Myers, Tad Brettig, and Nick Koehler. Travis Anderson started at the tail of the B-Feature and drove his way to the win to start near the back of the A main. A front row of Swearingen and Grant Southworth saw Southworth take the lead on the high side and Myers moving into second. Myers made a bid for the lead on lap four as he passed for the position, but a spinning Brettig slowed the action and Southworth regained the point. A mishap at the front of the field on the restart started a chain reaction crash coming to green as cars piled up behind the leaders. Travis Anderson, Jason Schill, and Antonio Pintaro were all eliminated with heavy damage on each car.

The next restart saw Shane Halopka come to a stop on the backstretch, again drawing a caution. The field came to green as Nick Koehler drove into second and challenged for the lead at an attempt for his third feature win of the young season. It wasn’t to be however, as Southworth withstood the challenge and took his second feature win of the season, his first in WISSOTA action on the year. Koehler drove home to the runner up position as Michael Truscott finished third. In his first night in a brand new SSR Chassis, Midwest Modified rookie, Gunnar Watkins impressed with a fourth place finish on his birthday. It was Swearingen filling out the top five.

The Conrad’s Auto Salvage Street Stocks took to the track with heat winner Cody Kummer on the inside of row two behind Michael Knudtson and Ashley Wahlstrom. Knudtson took the initial lead as Sam Fankhauser moved to second on the high side. A spinning Wahlstrom brought out the only yellow of the race. On the restart, cars went three wide with Tim Johnson coming out in the lead. Johnson drove away to a straightaway lead and on to the win as Fankhauser claimed second over Knudtson. Kummer finished fourth as Ron Hanestad brought the ageless 71H to fifth at the finish.

The Kadinger Auto Salvage Pure Stock heat winner was Brett Meyers as Kent Harmon and Mikel Pratt showed the way to green in the feature. A lap one caution saw Dean Pronschinske spinning and James Thur retiring from the event. Harmon drove to the front as Jeremy Dahl and Brett Myers raced for second. Dahl took the position and worked on the leader as Myers ran in their shadows. Harmon maintained the top position as Myers claimed second and closed to challenge. Myers used the upper grove to inch into the lead at the white flag and the two raced side by side the remaining lap. Harmon regained the lead at the line and won by a fender at the exciting conclusion. Dahl dropped out on the last lap as Cody Tisdale took third over Mike Pratt.

The Value Implement Hornet heats were won by Derrick Johnson and Armond Love as Bradley York and Love held the front row of the feature. A first lap caution eliminated Dillon Pronschinske and the field was reset. Love led on the green as Johnson closed to challenge and Dean Butler drew the last caution of the event which set up a great run to the checkers. Johnson took the lead on the inside but Love battled back. They raced side by side until Johnson used a crossover move to pass into the front and to lead the way to the checkers. Love followed home in second as William Voeltz claimed third. Sean Svee and Bradley York rounded out the top five
