Jim Falls, Wisconsin (April 21, 2016) Thursday, April 21, marked the beginning of a new era at the Eagle Valley Speedway as the move from Sundays to Thursday for racing action began. Springtime weather ultimately won over the evening as rains fell at the start of the Super Stock finale, ending the night too early for the eagerly awaiting fans. Gordy’s Market sponsored the night’s action as all six classes of cars with the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds were in action. Feature winners included Danny Richards and Nick Koehler before the rains forced double features for April 28, 2016 in the Hornets, Pure Stocks, Super Stocks, and Modifieds.

The Midwest Modified feature was dominated by pole sitter Nick Koehler as he made no doubt as to who would take the checkered flag immediately from the drop of the green. Koehler set sail on the high side and never looked back, driving to his second feature win in 2016. Grant Southworth settled into a comfortable second as Antonio Pintaro held third. A terrific battle waged for fourth position between Bob Wood, Michael Truscott, and Shane Halopka. Wood took the position in his new GRT by CCR as the yellow flew for a spinning Colin Hazelton. The field was reset, but the delay did little to thwart Koehler as he continued on to the win. It was Wood who stepped up to claim third and close on Southworth in second, but Southworth held the position to the line. Another three car battle for fourth developed as Halopka, Truscott, and Pintaro fought three wide. Pintaro’s night ended early when he retired from the event as Halopka claimed the fourth position and Truscott rounded out the top five.

The Street Stocks feature was won by Danny Richards as he moved from the inside of row two to the lead on lap one and owned the night. The yellow flew on lap two as Travis Hazelton found himself looking in the wrong direction and going to the tail of the field for the restart. Shortly thereafter, a spinning Kolby Kiehl slowed the action. Under green, Richards stretched his lead as Keith Tourville moved to second. Contact between cars saw Ryan Nelson come to a stop on the racing surface slowing the action, but at halfway Richards had regained his dominance. It was Travis Hazelton driving back through the crowd and developing a side by side race for second with Tourville. Tourville secured the position as Hazelton, Kiehl, and Nate Hauge finished third through fifth in a grouping that was so tight at the line, they appeared they could have been covered together with a blanket.

The Eagle Valley Speedway will return to racing action on Thursday, April 28, 2016, as all six classes of cars with the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds take the track. Once again, there will be double features in four classes! Thanks go out to the fine sponsors each week, including Oium Blacktop and Kelly Oium Well Drilling and Pump Service who give away a bicycle to one boy and one girl every racing night.
