If you thought that Trucks were just for hauling your boat to the Cottage, think again.  Trucks will be used for racing at the legendary 1/3rd Mile Tri-Oval at Eagle River Speedway.

Track promoter Kevin Dawson states that the popular Northern Wisconsin track will have a 4-Race Speedway Truck Series this summer.  The first race for the special-built race trucks will be on Friday Night, May 27th.

“This is going to be in addition to our weekly schedule of racing in 5 other classes.  The Trucks bring in a whole new level of excitement for the fans,” commented Dawson.

While the Methanol-burning high-performance motorcycle engine propelled Micro Sprint 600’s will be one of the 5 classes that will run every FridayNight, the track will also have a special nights featuring Micro Sprint drivers from throughout the Midwest.

“The Midwest Micro Sprint Series will hold its first race on June 3rd,” according to Dawson.

The track kicks off its 42nd year with a Practice Night on May 13th, with the season opener slated for the following Friday Night, May 20th.

“Whether it is a special night with the Speedway Trucks, a Micro Sprint Series special, or the popular Spectator one on one nights, our adrenaline is flowing as fast as the race fuel to get the season….and the summer started,” concluded Dawson.

The dirt track will also include special Quad and Side by Side XTreme Challenge races.  It won’t just be the racers racing for trophies and cash, the fans will have a chance to join in the winnings on the Tori Stevens Memorial Race.  That is a night where organizers get dozens of bicycles to give away to children. That will be on June 10th.

The track not only pulls in racers from throughout Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the track also brings fans from all over.

“The track adds to the Tourism Economy of the area, and has for 4 Decades.  These racers and fans spend money in the area,” commented Track Announcer, Skip Schulz.
