(Seymour, WI) April 9 – Four former races who competed at Seymour Speedway in the 1960’s through the 1970’s will be on hand for the season opening race at Seymour Raceway Park Sunday May 15 at 4 p.m. at the Outagamie County Fairgrounds in Seymour.
Appleton’s JJ Smith, New London’s Roger “The Flyin’ Farmer” Paul, Dave Valentyne of Kimberly and Denny “Teddy Bear” Teschke of Bonduel will be on hand to sign autographs at local racing author Joe Verdegan’s book signing at the track for the best-selling book “Life In The Past Lane – a history of stock car racing in Northeast Wisconsin from 1950-1980.” All four drivers have chapters written about them in the book, which was released in December, 2015.

Smith is a former track champion at Seymour, while Paul was a perennial front runner and former track record holder when the track featured a half-mile, clay oval. Valentyne, who is Smith’s brother-in-law and Teschke were also frontrunners at the track until the track closed in 1978. The track reopened later in 1982 and has remained open ever since.

The book signing will take place underneath the grandstand. Racing gets underway at 6 p.m.  A three division program will be run each week consisting of IMCA stock cars, IMCA northern sportmods and street stocks. A fourth guest class will be run most nights.
