DARLINGTON, Wisconsin (March 16, 2016) – Lafayette County Promotions, LLC and Mathys ACE Hardware welcomes Ken Schrader, one of motorsports’ most iconic figures, to the Lafayette County Speedway on Friday, May 13th.
Throughout his motorsports career Schrader has driven almost every kind of racecar. Starting in his teens, Schrader has driven racecars for the past four decades. As one of the sport’s legendary drivers, he has served in many other roles including car owner, promoter, spotter, radio and TV commentator and author. Schrader spent 30 seasons in NASCAR’s elite Cup series.
Taking the green flag at more than 70 races a year, Schrader will bring his IMCA dirt modified to the Lafayette County Speedway on Friday, May 13th. Prior to racing that evening, Schrader will join the community for a meet and greet session at the newly opened Mathys ACE Hardware in Darlington for a few hours.
“I always wanted to race and have been fortunate that I have been able to make a living out of this hobby,” Schrader says. “I still get a thrill when I buckle into a race car. I love traveling the country and racing against the best drivers in the business.”

Mathys ACE Hardware opened their newer, larger store in February. The store is located on Highway 81 in Darlington. For more than 35 years Mathys have served Southwest Wisconsin with hardware, paint, farm supplies and sporting goods.

Lafayette County Speedway, located in Darlington, Wis. has a 65-year old auto-racing legacy. The slightly banked three-eighths mile clay track has been in existence since the 1950’s. The facility can comfortably seat 3,000 spectators and has pit parking for approximately 90-100 racecars and haulers.
