BUCKY WAGNER’S VINTAGE COUPE TO ACCOMPANY NEW MOTORAMA BOOK SIGNING
(VINTAGE RACERS TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS AT “LIFE IN THE PAST LANE” BOOTH)
(Green Bay, WI) February 4 – The 1933 Plymouth Coupe which was wheeled by Two Rivers’ Bucky Wagner in the 1960’s on northeast Wisconsin area race tracks will be on display at the second annual NEW MOTORAMA April 1 thru April 3 at Shopko Hall and the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena in Green Bay.
The event is a mere 56 days away, and Wagner’s coupe will accompany author Joe Verdegan’s booth. Verdegan, who recently penned “Life In The Past Lane – a history of stock car racing in Northeast Wisconsin from 1950 – 1980”, will host a book signing at the show. A number of drivers featured in the book will be on hand throughout the three day show to sign autographs.
The No. 40 Plymouth Coupe is powered by a ’55 Dodge Flathead “straight six” cylinder engine. It also sports a Chrysler three speed transmission. The story on how this coupe was obtained by Wagner decades after it was raced is an amazing story that Verdegan chronicles in his book. The coupe was purchased by former racer Gregg Herrmann of Branch in January of 2015. “I was after that car for years actually,” said Herrmann. “Bucky was approached by a museum in Western Wisconsin that wanted the car. Bucky sold it to me and kept his wish to keep the car in the area.”
According to show manager Rick Paulick more than 200 vendors, bikes, boats, show cars and other motorized vehicles will be on display, including Wisconsin racing legend Dick Trickle’s Schneider National NASCAR Busch car. Several dozen vendors are expected to be on hand. The show fills the void where World of Wheels left off after a near 30 year run in Green Bay.
The hours for the show will be Friday 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
