ANNUAL EVENING OF RACING AT THE MANITOWOC COUNTY FAIR PROVIDES MANY THRILLS & SPILLS DELIGHTING FANS IN ATTENDANCE
Manitowoc Speedway, Wednesday, August 26th – Edge of your seat moments thrilled those in attendance on Manitowoc County Fair Night at the races, from the flyover during the National Anthem, to the 3, and sometimes 4 wide racing in all divisions on Wednesday Night.
PROFESSIONAL PLATING INC GRAND NATIONALS – Cedar Grove’s Jonathon Otte used the high side to cruise to the lead at the drop of green in the Professional Plating Inc Grand National Feature, with Chad Ninmer (Cleveland) and Fond du Lac’s Tim Simon taking over 2nd and 3rd. Simon worked the top side hard, and pushed around Otte into the lead on Lap 5. Kevin Lubach (Elkhart Lake) spun out, bringing out an early yellow and bringing the field back together. Point leader Brian Gilles (Plymouth) worked traffic on the restart to charge on Simon and push hard for the lead, while Seth Hoeffner (Manitowoc), Kevin Naidl (Reedsville), and Brad Lubach (Elkhart Lake) thrilled the crowd racing 3 wide, door to door for laps. Another caution at Lap 14 involving Steven Weber (Plymouth), Charlie Sancinatti (West Allis), Ninmer, and Elijah Koenig (Fox Lake), once again bunching the field back together with only Sancinatti being able to continue. Ryan Minster (Sheboygan) roared in to challenge Simon and Hoeffner, while Dan Schumacher (Germantown) continued a mad dash to the front picking up 10 spots after starting 17th. Lubach pushed Gilles hard, driving deep into the corners, but Gilles held on for the win, followed by Brad Lubach, Simon, and Hoeffner.

PROFESSIONAL PLATING INC SPORT MODIFIEDS – The Professional Plating Inc Sport Mods Feature started with a bang as former champion Jesse Brey (Two Rivers) moved around Phil Mott (Two Rivers) into the lead. Cody Eickberg (Plymouth) and Hunter Parsons (Green Bay) moved in quickly to challenge Brey, while Wyatt Block (Tigerton), Brian Bruechert (Kewaunee) and Matt Vetting (Valders) sliced their way through the pack from starting positions deep in the field. By halfway, Block and Bruechert elevated themselves into the top 5 behind Brey, Parsons, and Eickberg, with Phil Mott and Brandon Berth (Cascade) battling just behind them. Eickberg rolled into the lead with 5 laps remaining, while Parsons also got around Brey for 2nd. A violent incident on Lap 18 brought out the red flag after Justin Bauer (Sheboygan Falls) went airborne off the tire of another driver, rolling over several times. Gary Glander (Sheboygan), Brandon Knepprath (Kewaskum), & Jerry Duggan (Two Rivers) were also involved. All of the drivers were unhurt, and Duggan was the only one able to continue. Block used the restart to blast his way around Parsons, and went about chasing down the leader. Coming out of Turn 4 to the line, contact was made between Eickberg on the inside and Block against the rail, with Block edging out Eickberg for the win. Bruechert, Parsons, and Vetting rounded out the top 5, with Vetting picking up Hard Charger after passing 12 cars on his way to the front.

PROFESSIONAL PLATING INC 360 SPRINT CARS – KenJay Fiedler (Sheboygan Falls) took control on the initial green, but caution periods on Lap 1 & 2, first for Tim Haddy (Waupan) suffering mechanical issues, then for a spin by Brandon McMullen (Plymouth). Robbie Pribnow (Plymouth) moved around Fiedler into the lead, with Kurt Davis (West Allis), Justin Miller (Plymouth), and Wayne Modjeski (Oak Creek) rushing in to challenge Fiedler. By the midway point, both Davis and Miller moved around Fiedler, Davis rim-riding around the high side, while Miller used the low line. Lapped traffic came into play, with Pribnow and Davis deftly picking their way through. Mitchell Yurmanovich (Cascade) and Randy Sippel (Elkhart Lake) moved up from deep in the pack to challenge for spots in the top 5. The final caution flew on Lap 16 for Anthony Knierim (Franksville) almost exiting the park after being on top of the Turn 4 guardrail. This set up a dash to the finish with Pribnow, Davis, Miller and Fiedler pushing each other hard. Pribnow held off a charging Davis for the win, with Miller, Fiedler and Yurmanovich rounding out the top 5. Sippel picked up Hard Charger honors passing 9 cars.

BAILEIGH INDUSTRIAL LATE MODELS – Mitch McGrath of Waukesha leapt in front of teammate Rick Scheffler (Waukesha) and Jim Schmidt (Cleveland) and darted to the early lead. An early caution for debris bunched the field back up, but McGrath jumped out front, leaving the rest of the field to battle it out. Justin Schmidt (Cleveland) rode the tires at the bottom and ran the rails on the cushion on his way to earning Hard Charger, picking up 6 spots. Point leader Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah) slid in to challenge Jim for the 2nd spot, but McGrath rolled to the win, followed by Schmidt, Buhler, and Taylor Scheffler (Waukesha)

4 CYLINDERS – Mitch Meier (Chilton) jetted to the early lead, pulling Mike Meier (Chilton) and Steve VanOudenhoven (Two Rivers) with him. VanOudenhoven grabbed the lead a few laps later, while Mike Zitzer (Sheboygan) moved in to challenge the leaders midway through. After causing an mid-race caution, Ben Meyerhofer (Menasha) rolled into the fray for the lead as the Sport 4’s spent the latter stages of the race 3 wide lap after lap for the lead. Mike Meier held of Zitzer and Meyerhofer for the win.

DEFAUT AUTO THUNDER TRUCKS – Manitowoc’s John Rothmund made a bold move at the green, darting between Kewaskums Craig Gessner and Andy Weiss of Green Bay, and rolled on to the win.
