Track and Chase Champions Crowned at 141 Speedway

(Francis Creek, WI)-The 2015 Track titles have been awarded to the six drivers who have proven themselves the most worthy over the campaign. The four night Chase battle ended in wild and some times wacky fashion and also provided us with six Champions.

Johnny Whitman defended his IMCA Modified2014 championship with a title defense taken down to the final night. Whitman won the title by three points over Josh long. Whitman also won the inaugural IMCA Modified Chase title by one point.

Brett Wenzel overcame adversity on the final night to win his first ever IMCA Stockcar track title by four points over John Heinz. Wenzel also will be seen with the Chase title belt as he picked up the win.

Hunter Parsons earned his first career IMCA Sportmod title in his young racing career. Parsons was the most consistent on the season and won the title without taking home a Feature win. Kevin Bethke charged from 14th to the win, which allowed him to bring home the Chase title on championship night.

Paul Diefenthaler took home is second title in three years in the Street Stock division when he took the green flag in the Feature. Scott Boulanger would take home the Chase title after coming from the back to the front of the Feature event.

Charlie Sancinati scored the clean sweep in taking home both the Grand National Track and Chase titles. The win is Sancinati’s first at 141 Speedway.

Scott Johnson had everything locked up last week. Johnson is the first ever Wisconsin IMCA Sport Compact Champion.

21 laps up and 21 laps down. That was the itinerary for Brandon Long in the IMCA Modified Feature Main. Long lead every lap in taking home the win. Long led through two early cautions and pulled away from the field on the final restart on lap seven. Late in the race Long would get behind lapped traffic allowing Eric Scribner to reel him in. Scribner caught Long on the final lap and was able to get underneath him on the final corners. Long prevailed off of turn four to pick up his second win of the season. Scribner settled for second with Josh Long coming across the line third ahead of Kyle Kudick and Randy Markwardt.

Joe Brenner led one lap of the IMCA Stockcar Feature. Barry Van Straten made the move of the race with a five wide pass for second on lap two. He then knocked off Brenner on lap two and never was truly challenged. A caution on lap 12 would bring everyone to the back bumper of Van Straten. Van Straten proved to be the man to beat on this night as he took home his third win of the season. Rick Mahlberg won a late race battle over Devin Snellenberger for second. Dave Bouche charged through the field and finished fourth in front of John Heinz.

Jerry Duggan carried the field on his back for the opening circuit of the IMCA Sportmod A Main. Josh Lambert came flying passed on lapped two and pulled away from the field. A caution on lap 15 brought the huge lead down to nothing. On the restart, Travis Arenz dove down underneath the leader and took command for split second. Arenz tried to take the top of the track but didn’t have Lambert cleared. The top two made contact and ended up with damage to both racers causing a caution. J.J. Anderson restarted as the leader with Kevin Bethke behind. Bethke would use the top lane to get outside of Anderson at the white flag. The duo would drag race for a 1/3 mile with Bethke grabbing the win by mere feet over Anderson. The win was Bethke’ first of the season. Hunter Parsons finished in the third spot with Billy Edler and Bruce Belland rounding out the top five.

Cooper Berlin led early in the Street Stock Main Event. A caution on lap two sent Scott Boulanger down pit lane. He would restart 20th and move through the field like a tornado in a trailer park. He knocked off multiple cars at a time until he found himself behind race leader Paul Diefenthaler. A caution on lap 17 allowed a duel at the creek to take place. On the restart Boulanger got into Diefenthaler and took the lead. Boulanger would be docked two finishing positions for the move by track rule. Boulanger and Haydon would put on a show on the final circuits. Boulanger would beat Haydon to the stripe for the win. Haydon got the win via Boulanger being docked the two spots. Visiting driver Alex Crapser got second. Boulanger finished third ahead of Diefenthaler an Berlin.

Justin Green grabbed the top spot on the second lap of the Grand National Feature after passing Dave Gauger Jr. Green was well on his way to a win until a yellow flag appeared on lap 14. Kodi Wirtz used the restart to work outside the leader. Wirtz grabbed the lead on the next circuit. Wirtz never looked back and won his fourth Main Event. Charlie Sancinati came across the line in second. Justin Green finished third ahead of both Shawn Schmitt and Terry Van Roy.

Roger Braun took home his first 141 Speedway IMCA Sport Compact Feature. Brody Rivest got inside the leader on the final lap but had to settle for second. Jacob Walters, Ryan Georgia and Kevin Rabe were the rest of the top five.

Next Sunday Night, September 6th, The IRA Sprint Cars arrive at 141 Speedway. The INEX Legends, Grand National and Street Stocks are also in action. Racing starts at 6. Go to www.141speedway.com for all track information.
