Point battles tight entering final 2 weeks at Seymour

Seymour, August 27 – A total of 2 weeks remain on the 2015 schedule and both are full point nites to decide the division champions.

Racing has been very competitive and could even ramp up a bit over the final 2 weeks.

The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds has Eric Scribner still sitting atop the standings, but only 5 points 450-445, ahead of Eric Arneson. Mike Wedelstadt was in the title hint a couple weeks ago, until an early crash dropped him from 2rd to fifth. He made a huge jump back into the thick of the battle last week with a dominating feature win, his second of the season, that pushed him up to third with 433. Rookie, Konnor Wilinski, and his dad, Jerry, sit next in line with 432 and 429. T.J. Smith is still mathematically in the hunt as well.

The Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars has Travis Van Straten in command of the division. He has a division leading 7 feature wins so far this season and has also been the dominant driver in Northeastern Wisconsin driving towards 30 wins for the season. He holds a 505-481 lead over 6 time and defending champion, Rod Snellenberger. The race seems to be for second unless Van Straten has a major something happen. Snellenberger is only 6 points ahead of Chas Van Ooyen in third with Kyle Frederick in fourth with 463. Mike Schmidt is fifth with 426 and Jeremy Wiitala rounds out the top six with 400.

The race in the O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Sport Mod division has basically been a 2 car race all season long. Defending champion, Jeremy Cota, and Lucas Lamberies have been in a back and forth battle all season. Over the first 6 weeks, both won three features. Lamberies won back to back at mid season to move into the point lead and Cota has rebounded from mid season woes to win the last three main events and has moved up to 4 points, 495-491 of a repeat title. The last 2 weeks should prove to be very interesting. Travis Arenz has had an interesting season the past couple weeks, but even running borrowed cars has kept him in third place with 461. Kevin Bethke has 448 with Scott Besaw in fifth at 431. J.J. Andersen rounds out the top six at 395

The Turbo Blue Street Stocks has been very close all season . Jeff Jungwirth sat atop the standings early in the season with Allan Schlueter and Lexii Ashcraft chasing. Schlueter moved ahead of the field until Ashcraft put together a string of three straight wins at the end of June to spend a few weeks as point leader. Schlueter has since won 2 more features to retake the top spot and holds a 495-491 margin over Jungwirth. Ashcraft is still right in the hunt with 490 for what should be an excellent run for the title over the next 2 weeks. Jeff Dorschner is fourth with 440 markers, only 2 ahead of Matt Warner. Defending champion, Ryan Blank currently sixth with 435, but an accident a couple weeks ago, ended his title run for the year. Paul Ambrosius is next in line with 431.

The 4 Cylinder division will see a new, and first time, Seymour champion in 2015. Kasey Gross is the current point leader since mid season and has a 486 – 473 lead over a tie for second with Tanner Westphal and Tyler Hungerford. Carl King is third with 472. Taylor Becher, Heidi Meverden and rookie Skyler Bork round out the top six,

Looks like the weather will be nice for this week for the final sprint to the finish line for all the divisions.
