Oshkosh, August 21- With the 2015 season reaching the final few weeks, the Oshkosh SpeedZone Racway presented their next to last full point show of the season Friday night.

A total of 124 cars checked in for the nights program sponsored by Coors Light.

The Outlaw Chassis Street Stock division put their feature out first with 21 cars on the grid. Jesse Krahn grabbed the lead on the first lap and set the pace before the second caution appeared on lap 8. Just before the restart, Krahns mount stalled and was pushed off the track, which turned the top spot over to Frank Knaus. A few more cautions before the mid point kept the field tight before the green appeared for a 9 lap stretch starting on lap 10. Knaus was followed by Steve Gawaresky, Jerry Kope, Jeff Jungwirth, Mark Schultz and Dan Knaus.

The pack ran together until the final caution on lap 18 set up a 2 lap dash, with Knaus holding the lead throughout the stretch.

Knaus was able to keep the rest of the pack at bay for the final 2 laps to collect his second feature win of the season. Gawaresky took second with Kope taking third ahead of point leader, Jungwirth. Schultz and Dan Knaus rounded out the top six.

It took several attempts to get the Total Power Sales IMCA Stock Car feature underway and Andrew Becks found himself the leader for the opening lap. David Hoerning, was next at the lead, before Jerry Winkler took charge on lap 3. Winkler opened a lead for a few laps before Hoerning reeled him in and stayed glued to the rear bumper. Hoerning found a gap in the leaders path on lap 12, and found his way back to the lead. The top 2 had opened a lead on the rest of the field as Joe White, Winkler, Tom Brumlic, point leader, Travis Van Straten and Dylan Heilmann, battled behind. Van Straten, winner of 8 features so far, was stuck in a group of cars and looked like his streak would end until a caution appeared on lap 15, which re-grouped the field.

The final 5 lap sprint saw Hoerning still holding the lead with Winkler, White Van Straten and Brumlic doubled up behind. Van Straten took to the outside and was able to move into the runner up spot by lap 18. Van Straten moved behind Hoerning and was able to find a gap inside out of turn 4 for the white flag. Out of turn 2, Van Straten was able to complete the pass and drove to the checkered flag for his 9th feature win of the season. Hoerning took the runner up spot followed by White, Winkler, Heilmann and Brumlic.

Every division has one night during the year that nothing works right, and tonight it was the Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modifieds., The top division did not complete more than 2 laps under green in the first 8 lap with numerous cautions that kept racing to a minimum. Shaun Frelick led the first 2 laps, before Konnor Wilinski took over and survived the top spot until a 6 lap stretch after a lap 8 caution. Wilinski was able to pull away from the field as Eddie Muenster made a dash through traffic into the runner up spot on lap 12 as the white appeared with time limit expiring. On the final lap, a caution appeared for a spin out of turn 4, which ended the enduro, with Wilinski earning his first career IMCA Modified feature win. Muenster took the runner up spot with Frelick taking third. Steve Schneider worked from the back of the field and survived several problems early to take the fourth place finish. Mike Klenz and Dennis Schultz rounded out the top six.

The IMCA Sport Mods were up next and were able to click off 5 laps before the caution bug his again, forcing several cautions before the mid point of the race. Bernie Miller was holding the lead throughout this time and when racing took hold again after a final restart on lap 7, Travis Arenz was able to work inside and take the lead. Once in front, Arenz started to pull away from the field as the battle for the runner up spot tighten up. Miller, Brock Saunders, Jeff Schmuhl, Kevin Bethke, Jason Ebert and Ryan Besaw ran bunched up, leaving Arenz to pick his way through lapped traffic. The white appeared a couple laps early due to time limit with Arenz running to this first career IMCA Sport Mod feature win. Schmuhl was able to take the runner up spot and was closing on the leader before time expired. Bethke completed a strong run in third with Saunders taking fourth. Miller held on for his best finish of the season taking fifth. Ebert rounded out the top six.

The Gold Star Racing Products Grand National division redeemed the night by running 17 non stop laps before a lone caution set u a 3 lap dash to the finish. Tom Reichenberger worked into the lead on lap 4 and was still in command when the caution appeared on lap 17, bunching the entire field. A second caution on the restart set up a 2 lap dash with Reichenberger having point leader, Kenny Richards and Derek Schrauth right behind for the final 2 laps. Reichenberger claimied his season feature win of the season with Richards, in a borrowed car, taking second ahead of Schrauth in third. Terry Van Roy took fourth with Brian Henry and Larry Richards rounding out the top six.

With the track curfew loomomg, the Ellington Mutual Insurance Dirt Devils closed the night. It took a couple tried to get the race started, but Jonathon Rahmlow led the way for the opening lap before Joe Minks taking over the lead on lap 2. Aaron Milavils taking over on lap 3. Once in front, Milavils pulled away from the rest of the field. By the time Shaun Bangart took over the runner up spot, Milavils had a huge lead. Bangart used the last half of the race to close in on the leader, but ran out of laps to mount any challenge. Milavils recorder his first ever SpeedZone feature win with Bangart taking the runner up spot. Joe Minks ran to a solid third place finish with Cody Pankow taking fourth with Wes Lungwitz and Jordan Klemmer rounding out the top six.

Next Friday, August 28, the Corn Belt Clash/George Scheffler Memorial race will invade the SpeedZone. A large field of late Models is expected, along with the Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modifieds running the final leg of their “King of the Ring” series. The Gold Star Racing Products Grand national will also be part of the big night.

The final point night for all divisions will be on Friday, September 4.
