Bonus Purse for Sixes, Thanks to Fans Offered at ABC
Ashland, WI — With the 2015 stock car racing season winding down, it’s time for the ABC Raceway to say “thank you” to its many loyal fans.
Saturday night’s show will include the track’s annual Fan Appreciation Night as well as the last of the five special races spotlighting each of the Raceway’s weekly competing divisions, in a program presented by the Auto Value Auto Parts store of Ashland.
Racers, car sponsors and the Raceway will have handfuls of door prizes to be given away during the event to those in attendance, as a way of showing appreciation for the support and enthusiasm of the fans.
On the track, the ninth annual Six-Cylinder “Summer Sizzler” will offer the drivers of this unique-to-ABC division a chance to grab the headlines and maybe the big $450 first-place check awaiting Saturday’s feature winner. That winner’s share will be offered thanks to a generous contribution from Arlene Morrison, wife of the late 1996 ABC Raceway Six-Cylinder points champion Rich Morrison.
Only two race nights remain before the track crowns its 2015 division champs, and the action in the Sixes might be some of the best of the night, thanks to the combination of the big money on the line and the points battle between leader Dale Coddington of Hayward and defending champ Tiffany Hudack of Ashland. They have won four of the eight features run in the class this season – two each – and are separated by just seven points.
Interestingly, neither has won the “Sizzler,” although Tiffany’s brother Tyler Hudack of Ashland claimed the event in 2013. Ashland’s Neil Adamzak is the only other driver currently running regularly in the Sixes who has won this race besides Tyler – and he’s done it twice, in 2010 and last summer.
In two of the track’s other divisions, the lead margin is just one point. In the WISSOTA Super Stocks Tomahawk’s Jeff Klopstein leads Shane Kisling of Sarona by that thinnest of margins, while in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds Paul Suzik of Ironwood, MI, is just one up on Ashland’s Ryan Adamzak.
Al Uotinen of Superior is trying for his fifth WISSOTA Modified track title, as he heads into Saturday’s penultimate night of racing with a 12-point cushion on Jeff Spacek of Phillips, and in the Pure Stocks Ashland’s Matt Deragon could be on his way to defending his 2014 crown with the help of his 14-point advantage on Highbridge’s Tim Carbon.
All five classes will be in action, with hot laps at 6:15 pm followed by racing at 7. Adult tickets are just $10, and kids ages 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. “Z-93 Race Night” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, as well as stream online at www.wbszfm.com, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990.
