Other feature winners were Greg Gretz (IMCA Modified), Tom Brumlic (IMCA Stock Car), Dave Schmidt (IMCA Hobby Stock), Phil Faustini (Street Stock) and Nathan Delsart (Thunder Truck)

Next Sunday August 23 will be brought to you by Coors Light. Championship night is right around the corner on August 30. There will be a $300 to win Trailer Race of Destruction to cap championship night.

Despite taking the lead on lap two from Jeff Lautenbach, Jarred VanLaanen’s road to victory in the IMCA Sport Mods was anything but easy. Chris Budzban came into the night leading the standings, but a busted drive flag that turns the rear tires ended his night very early. VanLaanen built a straightaway advantage, only to see it taken away by a caution on lap eight. VanLaanen once again set sail on the restart, leaving the battle for second. Jacob Zellner bobbled while running near the front, setting off a chain reaction wreck that collected title contenders Bernie Reinhardt and Tom Stark. Stark returned on the lead lap after a trip down pit lane. Several mid race cautions kept the field tight but no one had anything to challenge VanLaanen, who dominated the remainder of the event with his second feature win of the season. Vince Engebregtsen was second. Cody Rass placed third and took over the point lead. Randy LeMieux Jr. was fourth followed by Zellner.

Rass holds a 1 point advantage over VanLaanen with two nights remaining. LeMieux Jr. is just 3 points behind. Stark sits fourth in the standings, 4 points out and Budzban falls all the way to fifth but is only 5 points behind Rass. With points this close, the title will come down to the final laps of the season.

Tom Brumlic blasted from row one into the lead over David Reinhardt on the opening lap of the IMCA Stock Car main event. Jamie Suchocki wagged war with Reinhardt for the runner up position. The duo raced side by side, lap after lap, allowing Brumlic to pull away. Suchocki was able to secure the runner up spot with nine laps remaining and began to chop away at Brumlic’s lead. Slowly but surely Suchocki tracked down the leader and pulled to the rear bumper as the white flag flew. Brumlic was up for the final challenged, holding off the advances to score a clean sweep on the night. The event was caution free. For the second week in a row Suchocki had to settle for second. Reinhardt was third followed by Billy LeMieux and Craig Dorner.

Dave Bouche’s lead has dwindled to 8 points over his Uncle Tony Bouche in the Stock Car title chase.

Tyler DeBouche looked to be on his way to his first ever IMCA Modified feature win as he quickly built a sizable advantage over the first six laps. Lap seven it all came undone and DeBouche spun his machine in turn two, bringing out a caution. Point leader Greg Gretz inherited the top spot on the restart and never looked back, capturing his 4th feature win of the season Further tightening his grip on the championship. Randy Markwardt Jr. placed a solid second. After a heat race win earlier in the night Randy Theys took third. DeBouche completed the top four. Gretz holds a 32 point advantage over DeBouche.

Phil Faustini kept his title hopes alive with his second feature win of the season in the Street Stocks. Faustini passed pole sitter Jimmy Anderson on lap two for the lead. After having trouble in the heat race, point leader James Dahlstrom raced from the tail to the back bumper of Faustini in the final laps. Despite the heavy pressure Faustini never lost his cool and collected the win. Mike Sargent took third in his first run, Anderson was fourth while Michael Plate Jr. took fifth. Dahlstrom leads Faustini by a mere 8 points.

Dave Schmidt raced from row two and too the lead on lap one of the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature. Schmidt dominated the caution free event to earn his sixth win of the season. CJ Weckler was second, point leader Marcus Moede won a late race battle with Dean Anhalt to place third. Ford Malvitz was fifth. Moede holds a slim 9 point advantage over Schmidt.

After contact on the white flag lap with John Rothmund, Nathan Delsart was declared the winner of the Thunder Truck feature. Last weeks winner Tory Peterson was second, with Rothmund third. Delsart has a 3 point edge on Peterson.
