Shawano,WI 7/28/15—While the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars may have served as the undercard to the World of Outlaws Late Model series, the action certainly didn’t disappoint. Marcus Yarie and Dustin Loberger each brought home the hard fought victories.
Marcus Yarie started on the pole of the IMCA modified feature but it was no cakewalk of his way to victory. Brad Lautenbach for the first six laps of the feature with Yarie right on his tail. On lap 7 Yarie took the lead from Lautenbach with Brian Mullen following Yarie passed Lautenbach and moving into second. Mullen and Johnny Whitman began to pressure Yarie on lap 10. Yarie fought off numerous charges by Mullen and Whitman over the remaining 10 laps on his way to victory lane. Matt Oreskovich passed Whitman late in the race to take third. It was the second win in a row for Yarie.

Dustin Loberger started outside row number one of the IMCA stock car feature and took the lead on lap number one accompanied by his brother in law Scott Stewart and nephew Steven Stewart. Behind them Mike Schmidt, Travis VanStraten, and John Heinz battled for the next three positions. By lap 7 of the race it was Loberger still in the lead with Steven Stewart and Travis VanStraten running second and third. Lap 12 saw VanStraten put the pass on Stewart to move to second. On lap 13 VanStraten moved to the inside of Loberger as the pair went side by side into corner number three. Th3 lead duo stayed side by side until lap number 15 when VanStraten pulled ahead of Loberger and took the lead at the start finish line by a bumper. On Lap 16 VanStraten had the lead by a fender, as Loberger stay right on the leader. Entering turn one on lap 17 Loberger took to the outside of VanStraten and grabbed the lead heading down the back stretch. Loberger continue to run the outside line of the track and was able to hold off VanStraten on the way to his first feature win of the season at Shawano Speedway. VanStraten finished in second, one spot better than Dan Michonski.
Racing will continue this Saturday night with the tracks annual Bud Lynn memorial race. Racing starts at 6:30. More information is available online at www.shawanospeedway.net.
