Sweeps Galore at Eagle Valley Speedway
on July 21, 2015 at 7:22 amJim Falls, Wisconsin (July 19, 2015) the Eagle Valley Speedway was in action as Leinenkugel’s sponsored the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds. Feature winners included Mike Anderson, Tommy Richards, Nick Koehler, Tyler Wahlstrom, George Richards, and Johnny Severston.
The Modified heat as won by Mike Anderson who went on to sweep the evening as Jake Hartung and Jay Richardson held the front row of the feature. Hartung lead early and began to stretch his advantage over second as Richardson and Anderson raced for position. Anderson eventually overtook second and used the high side to try to track down the leader Hartung, who had moved to a near straight stretch lead. Anderson continued to aggressively attack the cushion as he reeled Hartung in closer and closer. With three laps remaining, Anderson had reached Hartung’s rear bumper and as Hartung clung to his lead in the low groove, Anderson powered to the front on the final lap taking an exciting win. The race ran caution free as Hartung was runner up, followed by Jay Richardson in third, as Steve Hallquist was scored fourth.
Tommy Richards scored another Super Stock feature win after he and Mark Stender won heats earlier in the evening. Matt Koski and Matt McEathron paced the field as Koski took the initial lead. Sixth starting Mike Anderson used an aggressive dive into the corner to overtake all coming out the leader on the strait stretch. Tommy Richards had closed from his eighth starting spot to race Eric Olson for second, and then Anderson for the lead. Anderson held the low line as Richards proved he was faster on the high side. With Richards in the lead, McEathron spun, bringing out the caution. Richards controlled the restart as Olson and Anderson raced bumper to bumper for the runner up position. Stender brought out the las caution of the race with a backstretch spin. Once again, Richards was too tough on the restart and drove on to victory as Olson finished second over Anderson. Darrel Hazelton and Mark Stender claimed the fourth and fifth positions.
The Midwest Modified heats were won by Grant Southworth, Shane Halopka, and Nick Koehler as Koehler went on to sweep the night for the second consecutive week. The feature was led to the start by Travis Anderson and Colin Hazelton as Anderson drove to the early lead. Deeper in the field, Southworth, Smith, Halopka, and Koehler were driving hard through the field coming from their fifth through eighth starting positions respectively. The caution flag flew as Dane Wisniewski spun in turn two. Anderson lead on the restart as Smith battled for the lead in the low line. Smith overtook Anderson and soon thereafter Anderson was spun on the backstretch eliminating him from action.
Smith held the advantage off the restart as a spin in turn two involving four cars found Mike Truscott in the work area and returning to the tail of the field. Again, Smith led, but now Koehler was working the high side for the point and he made it work for the lead. Antonio Pintaro broke down on the tack bringing out the last caution of the night. It was Koehler starting in front and taking it the remaining distance for the checkered flag. Behind the winner, Mike Truscott had been working through the crowd from the rear of the field in the remaining laps. He first relegated Southworth to fourth and then Smith to third, finishing an impressive second. Brad Seavers rounded out the top five.
The Street Stocks heats were won by Adam Soltis and Danny Richards in the only class of the evening which did not have a clean sweep. Nate Hauge and Adam Soltis led the feature to green with fourth starting Mike Knudtson taking early control. Hauge, Soltis, and Tyler Wahlstrom battled for third as Wahlstrom came out on top. He then closed on the leader and wrestled away the point using the high groove. The yellow flag flew when Richards broke down and Knudtson regained the point. Another yellow flag reset the field as Knudtson continued to show the way. Soon, a three car battle ensued for the point as Wahlstrom overtook the leader and Hauge claimed third. Wahlstrom went on for the victory as Knudtson settled for runner up. Hauge, Soltis, and Grabon were scored in the top five.
The Pure Stock heat and feature were swept by the simply unbeatable George Richards as he has dominated the class throughout the year. Cody Stead sat on the pole and was flanked by Nicholas Hazelton as Hazelton drove to the early feature lead. Dustin Holub initially raced with Richards for second and then moved on to take the lead. Soon Richards used the upper line to drive past all and into the first position. Holub followed Richards to the checkered as Nicholas Hazelton won a fight for third over Lucas Kallenbach and Pat Smith.
The Hornets were won by Chad Prissel and Johnny Severtson as Severtson went on to sweep the nights action. It was Dean Butler on the pole as Sean Svee started the feature to his outside but Dan Prissel immediately moved from his second row starting position to take the point. Sean Svee battled back for the lead and held the position until Severtson wrestled it away. As Severtson drove away from the pack Prissel and Brad York fought over third. York gained the advantage and the two overtook Svee. Severtson won handily ahead of York, Prissel, and Svee, as Dan Prissel drove home to fifth.
The Eagle Valley Speedway will return to action on Sunday, July 19, 2015, as JP Mechanical will sponsor all six classes of cars with the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds. Once again, Oium Blacktop and Kelly Oium Well Drilling and Pump Service will give away a bicycle to one lucky boy and girl!
