The Richards’ Rule Eagle Valley
on July 13, 2015 at 6:30 amJim Falls, Wisconsin (July 12, 2015) the Eagle Valley Speedway was in action as Coca Cola Enterprises sponsored the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds. Feature winners included Kevin Adams, Tommy Richards, Nick Koehler, Danny Richards, George Richards, and Chad Prissel.
The Modified heat as won by Steve Hallquist as Jake Hartung and Jay Richardson held the front row of the feature. Richardson led early but the eventual winner, Kevin Adams moved in to race door to door for first. Adams won out and steadily stretched the distance on the field. Mike Anderson used the ultra-low groove to move into second but Adams was already gone. Anderson tried to close on the leader and stretched his advantage over third where Richardson and Hartung battled side by side for several laps before Hartung wrestled the position away. The race ran caution free as Adams won and Hallquist was scored fifth.
All three Richards’ brothers swept their classes in the night’s action as Tommy Richards capitalized on another racers bad luck to win the Super Stock feature. Curt and Darrel Hazelton paced the field as Darrel Hazelton took the initial lead. Mike Anderson charged to the point and brought Richards trailing behind him. The two drivers drove away from the rest of the field to allow them to fight for third. Anderson began to stretch his lead and seemingly looked quite comfortable until he blew a tire in turns three and four. He immediately went to the work are and retuned at the rear of the pack. Richards became the leader on the restart and moved off to a dominating lead. Behind him, eyes were upon Anderson as he carved his way to second past Mark Stender. A spinning Darrel Hazelton drew a yellow and gave Anderson a chance at Richards but Richards was too tough on the restart and drove to the win. Darrel Hazelton and Tony Falkner took advantage of the caution to finish third and fourth over Stender.
The Midwest Modified heats were won by Brad Seavers and Nick Koehler as Koehler went on to sweep the night. The front row saw Colin Hazelton inside of Bob Wood as Hazelton drove to the early advantage. However, in turn two of the second lap, Hazelton spun in front of the entire field collecting six cars in total. Hazelton, Mike Knudtson, and Austin Ellis were unable to continue as Wood led the restart. Koehler blasted to the lead as Jake Smith followed to second and then beside Koehler for side by side racing for the top position. Koehler moved to a slight advantage but Smith would not go away as he drove the low groove remaining in Koehler’s shadow. Laps clicked off as the two ran a torrid pace in an outstanding event which was not truly over until the checkered flag dropped. Further behind, Brad Seavers outran Shane Halopka for third and Antonio Pintaro finished fifth.
The Street Stocks were swept by Danny Richards as Dalton Hazelton and Nate Hauge led the feature to green. It was fourth starting Richards who spoke loud and clearly as he moved to the front and never looked back, leading every lap of the event. One yellow slowed the pace as Travis Hazelton spun but Richards was too tough to beat off the restart. Tyler Wahlstrom raced to second and closed slightly on the leader late in the event as Hauge had a terrific run in the low groove to third. Dalton Hazelton finished fourth over Rob Grabon.
The Pure Stock heats were won by George Richards and Dustin Holub. The first attempt at the feature start was aborted and the second attempt found Cody Tisdale taking the lead. The yellow flag flew early as Dwayne Braun got a flat tire and went to the work area, restarting at the rear of the field. Tisdale continued to lead on the restart but was passed by Pat Smith and shortly thereafter, retired to the infield. Richards closed from his fourth row starting position to battle inside of Smith for first as Holub moved to third. A spinning Cody Stead brought out the second and last caution as Richards regained control on the eventual restart. Holub gained second position over Smith as Steve Cross and Nicholas Hazelton rounded out the top five.
The Hornets were swept by Chad Prissel but it wasn’t a simple feat as Bob Seidler and Shane Lindseth led the feature to green. Cars immediately went three wide for the entire first lap and on the second lap Seidler and Prissel made it a two car battle for the point. The two literally raced side by side with either having the slightest advantage at the line, depending on the lap, for nearly the entire distance of the race. Seidler ran in the low groove as Prissel drove above him. With two laps remaining, Prissel earned the advantage and moved in front but the two stayed bumper to bumper. Seidler drove low through the last turn and tried to mount a charge to the inside but it was Prissel by half a car at the line. Behind the amazing race for the win, Darrel Komro, Dan Prissel, and Lindseth filled out the top five.
