Whitman Wanders into Victory Lane at 141 Speedway

(Francis Creek, WI)- He may not be in championship contention this year but Johnny Whitman showed why he is still a force to be reckoned with. Whitman picked up his second win of the season in the IMCA Modifieds.

Other winners included: John Heinz(IMCA Stockcars) Josh Lambert(IMCA Sportmods) Scott Boulanger(Street Stocks) Charlie Sancinati(Grand Nationals) and Scott Johnson(IMCA Sport Compacts.)

Luke Lemmens started on the pole for the 20 car, 21 lap IMCA Modified Feature event. He led the opening lap before giving way to Brandon Long up top. Long rode the top around the 1/3 mile with Lemmens in tow. This opened up the bottom for Johnny Whitman to come from his ninth starting spot to third by lap four. He tracked down the duo quickly and made the pass for the lead down low on lap 10. Whitman dominated the last half of the caution free race to pick up his second win of the season. Long beat Lemmens for second in the race long duel. Russ Reinwald came home fourth with Josh Long rounding out the top five.

Chris Malfroid sat on top of the IMCA Stockcar leaderboard for the first two laps of the IMCA Stockcar Feature. Devin Snellenberger and John Heinz came from their fourth and fifth starting rows to get behind Malfroid by lap three. Snellenberger was the first to make it passed Malfroid with Heinz following suit. Heinz would commandeer the back bumper of Snellenberger for several laps. Heinz would make his move on lap eight down low on Snellenberger. The duo would tango for just a split second with Heinz grabbing the lead. Heinz pulled away to his fifth feature win of the season in the caution free sprint. Snellenberger finished second with Brett Wenzel coming from ninth to finish third. Bret Koehler finished fourth with Malfroid running to a solid top five finish.

Travis Hansen showed the way for the majority of the IMCA Sportmod Feature event early. Josh Lambert made his way to second with moves at the top and bottom of the track. Lambert set his racer up on top of the track and cruised to chase down Hansen From a near ¾ of a straightaway. Lambert would power passed on top but not without a fight from Hansen late. Hansen changed grooves slightly and would swap the lead with Lambert over the waning laps. This allowed Travis Arenz to come storming up to the duo on the final lap. Off the final corner, Lambert found enough bite up on top to take home his second win of the season. Arenz used a slide job on the final corner to take second coming across the line on Lambert’s back bumper. Hansen finished third with Scott Boyea and Hunter Parsons running to top five finishes.

Shane Long led the opening lap of the Grand National Feature before Seth Hoeffner took command on lap two. Hoeffner would lead until a lap 10 caution flag. Charlie Sancinati worked his way into a top three by the caution and slid into the lead on the restart. Sancinati and Hoeffner would alternate the lead for a few laps before Sancinati would take control. Sancinati ran in the lead while Aaron Stolp worked to his back bumper using the top of the track. The final laps saw Sancinati ride the bumper of the leader but not able to make the pass. Sancinati picked up his fifth win of the season in front of Stolp. Kodi Wirtz finished third ahead of both Hoeffner and Shawn Schmitt.

Eric Derks spent the first four laps as the leader of the Street Stock Feature. A flat tire and a spin would cause a caution to fly on lap four. Kraig Koehler assumed responsibilites as the leader but Scott Boulanger quickly took charge. Boulanger grabbed the lead with Paul Diefenthaler and Shawn Haydon coming behind. The final half of the race saw Boulanger fending off Diefenthaler down low. Boulanger kept his racecar out front to pick up his fifth win. Diefenthaler beat Haydon to the line. Koehler finished fourth with Josh MacDonald fifth.

Scott Johnson cruised into the lead early in the IMCA Sport Compact Feature and never looked back. He increased his point lead in the division with his third win. Tony Fletcher finished second ahead of Neil Watzka, Roger Braun and Ryan Georgia.

Next Saturday Night, July 18th, Christmas comes to 141 Speedway. Santa Claus will be at the track from 5-6. There will also be free sweet corn and beer after the races. Go to www.141speedway.com for all track information.
