Seymour TODAY June 28

Seymour, June 28- It seems we are getting on the good side of Mother Nature as it looks to be another beautiful day for racing at the Seymour Speedway.

Tonight we welcome Van Straten Auto Service and Hometown Grill, both of Shiocton, as out tile sponsors.

The season is half over already and the racing has been very competitive in all divisions.

The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds saw Benji LaCrosse become the first repeat feature winner in the division last week. The win booster his IMCA feature total to 99. His all time total here at Seymour in the mods is 36. He also holds 4 wins in the Stock Cars here. Could #100 come tonight? Mike Wedelstadt leads the standings with 204 marks followed by Eric Arneson with 203. Jerry Wilinski is third with 199 followed by Jamie Schmidt at 195 and Eric Scribner with 192. Arneson is the lone driver in the top five to not win a feature so far but has been a consistent top 5 runner.

The Coors Light IMCA Stock Car division continues impress every week. Plenty of three, four and even five wide racing makes every race exciting to watch. Travis Van Straten won his second straight and third feature of the season last week which puts him on top the standings by one mark, 233-232, over defending 6 time champ, Rod Snellenberger. Kyle Frederick has had to work through the consy the past couple weeks to make the main and has been fun to watch moving to the front. He has yet to win a feature here this season, but, he sits third with 223. Chas Van Ooyen is enjoying a strong season and sits 4th with 210. Mike Schmidt joined us weekly this season and has been a solid runner, holding 5th so far with 198. Both have feature wins to their credit.

The Turbo Blue Street Stock division has been down a bit on numbers this season, but not quality. Lexii Ashcraft has run to 2 straight strong feature wins the past 2 weeks and moved on top the standings with 233 points. Jeff Jungwirth, also a 2 time feature winner, is second with 228. Alan Schlueter with 2 wins and defending champion, Ryan Blank, with 1 feature are tied for third with 225. Jeff Dorschner is fifth with 211. Let the battle rage on.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Sport Mods has been a see saw battle between defending champ, Jeremy Cota and Lucas Lamberies. The 2 swapped feature wins every week until Brian Bruechert broke the chain on June 14th with his first ever Sport Mod win here. Cota won again last week, giving each of them three wins on the season with Cota holding a 234-229 margin in points. Travis Arenz joined us weekly this season and has been a strong competitor, sitting third with 223. J.J. Andersen and Kevin Bethke round out the top 5 with 212 ands 204 respectivly.

The 4 Cylinder division has also been up and down this season on numbers but again, quality has not been in short supply. Tanner Westphal has uses consistent top five finishes to move on top the standings with 229. Tyler Hungerford is second with 225 and has one feature win so far this season. Carl King ran to his second feature win last week and moved to third with 221. Kasey Gross and Taylor Becher round out the top 5 with216 and 191 respectivly. Six different drivers have won features this season.

The Thunder Trucks brought a lot of pre season interest, but so far, not a lot of participation. Word is there are trucks out there, but they need the tires to hit the tracks.

Brandon “Smokey” Van Ooyen is the start of what will probably be a long string of third generation drivers in the solid racing family. Jayden Schmidt has been running karts for several years and is now branching out as well. We appreciate their efforts and encourage the next generation of stars as they start their careers.

With the re-cap complete. Moving on to the second half the season starts tonight.

Running order is:

Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars

O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Sport Mods
