Jim Falls, Wisconsin (June 21, 2015) the Eagle Valley Speedway was in action on Father’s Day as Southworth Chevrolet and Tim’s Automotive sponsored a Midwest Modified special as they raced for $1,000.00 to win. In addition, the Budweiser / Rock Fest ticket giveaway brought six classes of cars to the track with the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds. Feature winners included Dan Wheeler taking home $1000.00 along with Jesse Glenz, Tommy Richards, Tyler Wahlstrom, George Richards, and Sean Svee.

The field for the Midwest Modified 25 lap feature and battle for a cool grand was set by three heats won by Dan Wheeler, Nick Koehler, and Michael Truscott with Grant Southworth drawing the pole and being flanked by Wheeler on the front row. As expected when racing for bigger money, there were early frantic starts and it took four attempts for the field to go green. The three aborted earlier restarts eliminated Bob Wood and Collin Hazelton but others involved were able to continue. When the race officially began, Wheeler took control at the front and was chased by Southworth, Jake Smith, Shane Halopka, and Michael Truscott.
The race continued with good racing action until a three car spin with Antonio Pintaro, Josh Wahlstrom, and Wayne Braun Jr. regrouped the field with Pintaro being charged with the caution. The restart found Wheeler still in the lead as Smith overtook second and Truscott closed on the high side passing for third and then overtaking Smith. At the halfway point, Wheeler appeared to have a comfortable lead over Truscott, who himself had put distance on Smith. Halopka ran in fourth, and ninth starting Nick Koehler cracked the top five.
Truscott methodically closed on the leader as the laps wore down and on 23 of 25 he swept into the lead on the high side in turns three and four. The two drivers continued with Truscott at the point as they closed on a group of four cars racing for position deep in the field. Truscott continued to use the high groove and darted through traffic well through the middle as Wheeler hung in the ultra-low lane. Still mired in traffic as they closed on the finish line, the crowd was on their feet and the finish appeared nearly too close to call as Wheeler was announced as the winner, overtaking the lead in the last few feet. Truscott was relegated to runner up in what had been an amazing race for both drivers. Jake Smith, Shane Halopka, and Nick Koehler closed out fine top five finishes.
The Modified heat was won by Dave Baxter as the front row of William Fisher and Jay Richardson led the field to the line. Fisher immediately took the lead but was overtaken by Richardson a few laps in. The racing action to be seen was the two last row starters of Mike Anderson and Jesse Glenz as they attacked through the group as if the first of the two to the front would be the eventual victor. Surely enough, Glenz was able to get to the point first as Anderson followed and the two left the remaining cars behind. Glenz eventually stretched his lead to the checkers as Anderson had a large lead over Richardson and Steve Hallquist and Fisher rounded out the top five.
The Super Stock heat was won by Tommy Richards who took his fourth place start in the feature on to a sweep of the evening. It wasn’t an easy task however, as Tony Falkner and Mark Stender set the pace and Stender lead early. Mike Anderson closed on the leader and overtook the point as Richards followed through and eventually moved under Anderson for the lead. With Richards on the low side and Anderson attacking the very high groove, the two cars ran away from the rest of the field. Although Anderson couldn’t make the pass, he was solidly running right with the leader and at times looked as if he was going to complete the move. With two laps remaining, Anderson jumped the cushion in turn two and Richards earned a little breathing room. However, a spinning Curt Hazelton drew the caution flag and set up a three lap dash for the win. Before the restart, Randy Spacek went to the work area and changed a flat tire and retuned to the back of the field. Richards went on to win yet another feature followed by Anderson, Terran Spacek, Stender, and Randy Spacek.
The Pure Stock heats were won by Travis Hazelton and Jay Kesan as the two also held the front row of the feature. The first three laps provided side by side racing for the lead before Hazelton edged out front on lap four. Hunter VanGilder began to close and took second as Tyler Wahlstrom moved to third and then closed to overtake second and move into a side by side battle for the lead. A spinning Nate Hauge drew the caution and reset the field as Hazelton paced the restart. At the green flag Wahlstrom drove below the leader for the point and never looked back as he slowly extended the distance over second. VanGilder raced to second, but Hazelton rebounded and took back the position at the finish. Kesan was scored fourth and Danny Richards filled out the top five.
The Pure Stocks were swept by George Richards as he first won the heat and then drove to the lead from his third starting position in the first lap of the feature and never looked back. Trent Barnhardt was showing speed as he closed on second place Todd Roshell but spun and collected Steve Cross. Richards dominated the remainder of the race after the restart and Dustin Holub overtook Smith for second. Michael Miller finished fourth and was followed to the line by Cross.
The Hornet heats were won by Darrell Komro and Chad Prissel as Shane Lindseth and Dean Butler led the feature to green but third starting Sean Svee drove to the point and never looked back as the race ran caution free. Chad Prissel had a strong run in second, but couldn’t run down the winner. Austin Berger challenged for second for several laps but settled for third at the end. Komro and Dan Prissel filled out the top five.
