Rice Lake Speedway Wet; Kid’s Night Upcoming
on June 21, 2015 at 11:02 amRice Lake WI, June 20 – Heavy overnight rains, along with continuing showers on Saturday that ended attempts to work the track resulted in the cancellation of racing action Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway. The AFCO Race of Champions qualifiers, with the winners of the four WISSOTA sanctioned divisions automatically qualifying for the Race of Champions event to be held at the WISSOTA 100 in Huron South Dakota in September, have been rescheduled for August 1st with the draw/redraw format to be in effect that night.
Upcoming to the speedway will be two of the biggest attractions of the entire racing season. Next Saturday, June 27th, will be Kid’s Night at the track. The drivers will bring their race cars on to the speedway before the program starts and fans will be allowed to go down on the track to visit with the drivers and their crews and pick up goodies that most of the drivers provide. There will also be a huge bike drawing for the kids with well in excess of fifty bikes having already been donated by drivers, fans and businesses with more expected by race night. Fans are encouraged to get to the track early so that they can register their kids and take advantage of all prerace activities.
Then, only five days later, the biggest spectator draw of the entire racing season takes place on Thursday, July 2nd with the presentation of the annual Firecracker special. Along with a full program in five divisions of racing, the annual Fireworks display, considered one of the best in the entire area, will be shot off after sunset with both aerial and ground displays as a part of the program. With Friday, July 3rd being celebrated as the legal holiday, a huge field of both fans and racers is expected on July 2nd with both groups encouraged to get to the track early for best seating and parking.
With the speedway running on July 2nd, there will be no racing at the track on Saturday, July 4th. However, if the Firecracker is rained out on July 2nd, the complete event will be held on Saturday, July 4th.
For both events, draw cut off for drivers is 6:30 p.m with hot laps and racing to follow.
