Ashland, WI — With a favorable forecast and a racing surface that is finally cooperating, the staff of ABC Raceway hopes to start its 2015 stock car racing season on Saturday with on latest opening-night date in its 51-year history.
Outlaw Graphics of Ashland will present the “Midwest Mod Spring Classic,” the first of the scheduled special nights of racing for the Raceway’s five regular weekly-competing divisions, and one of two special shows for the track’s newest WISSOTA-sanctioned division. The “Spring Classic” will offer an enhanced feature purse to tempt a field of drivers that has consistently shown up in the strongest numbers since being added as part of the regular Saturday night fare in Ashland in 2008.

WISSOTA Modifieds and Super Stocks and the track’s own Six-Cylinders and Pure Stocks will also perform on the three-eighths-mile red-clay oval south of town with a complete slate of qualifying heats and feature races.
Despite questions about the readiness of the race track and gloomy weather closing in quickly last Saturday night, a strong field of 88 racers came to play, but the program was washed out early by the incoming rains.
Fans who attended the racing program at Ashland on June 6 are encouraged to bring their admission wristbands from that night’s show, as they will be honored for admission to this Saturday’s program.
Hot laps begin at 6:15 pm, and the first green flag of the season is scheduled to be thrown at 7. Adult tickets are just $10 each, and kids ages 12 and under admitted free with a paid adult admission. “Z-93 Race Night” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
