Lambert and Stolp Earn First Career Feature Wins at 141 Speedway
on May 24, 2015 at 10:24 am(Francis Creek,WI)- The ultimate goal for most local racecar drivers is winning a championship. To accomplish that goal, it usually starts with a first career feature win. On two separate occasions it happened on Saturday night at 141 Speedway.
Josh Lambert bested a 23 car field to earn his first career IMCA Sportmod Feature win. He earned a clean sweep by also winning his heat race.
Aaron Stolp made his weekly trip from West Allis a successful won by knocking off the competition after 20 laps in the Grand National Feature. It was his first career Grand National Feature win.
Other winners on Memorial weekend included: Jeremy Jacobs(IMCA Modifieds) John Heinz(IMCA Stockcars) Scott Boulanger(Street Stocks) and Brandon Kay(IMCA Sport Compacts.)
Race Van Pay earned his first career IMCA Sportmod Feature win a couple of weeks ago. He was in familiar territory to start the feature but this time Josh Lambert wanted his own memorable racing moment. Lambert put his racer up top and grabbed the lead from VanPay on lap four. Lambert would put on a dominant performance over the field that would see a full straightaway lead mid race. A caution with eight laps remaining brought everyone to the rear-end of Lambert. Enter Doug Maurer. Maurer used a veteran restart to move around Lambert and into the lead with seven laps to go. Lambert stayed true to his line and didn’t falter as he moved back around Maurer with four to go. Lambert looked like a veteran himself and hit his marks on the track to earn his first career feature win. Lambert made the night just a little sweeter after he picked up the heat race win completing the clean sweep on the night. Maurer finished second but was disqualified for illegal axles. Second place was awarded to J.J. Anderson. Mike Dauphinais, Ryan Lemieux and Bill Edler completed the top five.
Four different leaders graced the Grand National field with their presence over the 20 lap feature event. Rex Karner opened up as leader with Justin Green shooting around him and into the lead on lap four. Green would lead for just won lap as point leader Kodi Wirtz moved from ninth to the lead on lap five. Aaron Stolp entered the fun on lap eight and engaged with a battle over Justin Green. Stolp took control of the runner-up spot and set his sights on the point leader. Stolp would work behind Kodi Wirtz as they moved into lapped traffic with the laps clicking away. Wirtz could not move around the lapped traffic up top. Wirtz would see the white flag first but entering turn one he went down low. Stolp stayed in his sweet spot up top and got to the outside of the leader entering the final two corners. Wirtz led coming off of turn four but Stolp had great momentum coming off the top and picked up the win in another drag race by ½ car length. Stolp picked up his first career Grand National Feature win by taking home the checkered flag in front of Wirtz. Charlie Sancinati started 13th and came up to third at the final line. Terry Van Roy finished fourth after running up front the whole race. Shawn Schmitt rounded out the top five.
Former Sportmod champion Brandon Long led the opening lap of the IMCA Modified Feature. Jeremy Jacobs came cruising along on top of the speedway and beat Long back to the line to grab the lead going into lap three. R.M. Van Pay and Russ Reinwald moved to the back of the leader and made it a three car race with everyone running nose to tail right on top of the track. The trio made it into lapped traffic starting on lap ten. Jacobs would have to be smart when trying to move low on the speedway as Van Pay and Reinwald would stay up top to try and use the lapped cars to move around the leader. Reinwald would move passed Van Pay and into second with four laps remaining. A lone caution on lap 18 would make it a three lap dash for the win. Jacobs rode the top along the speedway with Reinwald and the field hot on his back bumper. Jacobs picked up the win in front of Reinwald. Jacobs picked up the clean sweep on the evening as he also won his heat. Kyle Kudick won a log jam race for third over Eric Mahlik and point leader Brad Lautenbach.
Bob Czarapata opened the IMCA Stockcar Feature as the leader. Troy Muench moved into the lead from fourth on lap two following a caution flag. Muench would lead with Larry Karcz moving forward and fighting down low for the top spot when racing resumed. John Heinz moved forward from his 11th starting spot and into third by lap three. Heinz would grab the second spot and then focus his attention on Muench immediately. Heinz stayed down low with Muench running a lane above him around the track. With the open hair down low, Heinz would snap like a Slim Jim and into the lead on lap ten. One last caution stood between Heinz and his third win and that occurred on lap 13. Heinz cruised around the 1/3 mile and bested the field scoring the win in the main event. Muench came home second in front Brett Wenzel. Devin Snellenberger closed in and passed Larry Karcz late for fourth.
Opening lap carnage sent cars flying and spinning everywhere in the Street Stock Feature event. That would be the only halt to the race. Scott Boulanger figured out the field quickly and moved from third to first on the opening lap. Boulanger went into Saturday Night stroll mode. He pulled away from the field and never looked back in winning his second straight feature win. Paul Diefenthaler engaged in a race long battle that saw him finally win the second spot over Josh MacDonald. Eric Turner finished fourth on the track but was disqualified in post race tech. Mike Conard was awarded fourth. Conard started the race 18th after getting a flat tire on the opening lap. He came from the back to the front under green flag conditions. Fred Davister came home fifth after taking a hard hit into the wall in his heat race.
A caution filled race early in the IMCA Sport Compact division kept everyone close knit and bonding up front. After all was said and done, Brandon Kaye walked away from the field and picked up his second win of the season. Stephen Gilbertson finished second in front of Brad LeClair. Scott Johnson and Dustin Delveaux ran to fourth and fifth place finishes respectively.
Racing resumes Sunday Night May 24th with the IRA Sprint Cars in action. Support classes include: The INEX Legends, Grand Nationals and Street Stocks. Racing starts at 6 p.m.
