With Friday night’s schedule event at Luxemburg Speedway rained out, we loaded up for only 1 night of racing this past weekend on Saturday night at Thunderhill Raceway.

Coming into the night, we held a 5 point lead over Randy LeMieux, Jr. after 3 nights of racing at the track. A total of 12 sportmods checked in on the evening, and a 5th place finish in the heat race set us up with a 9th place starting spot in the night’s feature.

Early in the feature, I looked to move through the field behind last week’s feature winner, Cody Rass. Rass was unable to make much headway on the bottom of the racetrack, so I looked to the outside to begin my pursuit to the front of the pack. After getting around Rass, I battled with Vince Engebregtsen for a few laps before clearing him to get up to 5th.

A few laps later, I went around the outside of Jarred VanLaanen to secure the 4th spot, but by that time the top 3 had broken away from the pack. I tried to close the gap with only 3 laps remaining in the feature, but the distance was too much, and I finished the night with a solid 4th place finish.

LeMieux ended up finishing in 3rd place, so our point lead shrunk from 5 points to 4 points heading into next week’s 7th Annual Nathan Bouche Memorial at Thunderhill. The IMCA stock car division will be running for a top prize of $1,000 to win.

We’ll be back at Luxemburg Speedway on Friday night, and of course we’ll be at Thunderhill Raceway on Saturday night. We have won on the Nathan Bouche Memorial night the past 2 years, and we’re hopeful to make it 3 years in a row!
