USMTS Race at Rice Lake Speedway Canceled
on May 13, 2015 at 4:28 pmRice Lake WI- May 13 – The United States Modified Touring Series(USMTS) special race scheduled for Thursday, May 14th at the Rice Lake Speedway has been canceled. The announcement was made mid-morning to day by track co-owner Dave Adams along with USMTS head Todd Staley.
With a forecast that called for a ninety per cent chance of rain by rain time and rain slated to continue throughout the evening, it was decided that in the best interests of both the competitors and spectators that an early cancellation call should be made.
“We wanted to run this USMTS race,” stated Adams. “However, every weather media that we’ve checked with gives us virtually zero chance of getting the show in. There is no point in getting all our spectators on the road, and the race teams to burn expensive fuel to get here, only to find us under water and with no chance to race.”
The USMTS schedule has no available options for rescheduling the race, so the program will be lost for 2015.
“We’ve had really bad luck trying to get a USMTS race in for the last few years.” declared Adams. The rain out marks the third straight year that the Spring race has been rained , or snowed out, with a “Hunt Race” in 2013 the last time the series has been successfully able to complete a program at Rice Lake.
A regular, five class program is next scheduled for the speedway this coming saturday, May 16th. The next special event on the speedway calendar is the Auqafuest trophy races slated for Tuesday night, June 9th.
