LaCrosse Plays Chess With Czarneski In IMCA Modified Finale
(Luxemburg, WI)- Friday night was game night at Luxemburg Speedway. Numerous races came down to last lap finishes for the win. The IMCA Modifieds saw Benji LaCrosse become King with his win.
Winners on night #2 included: Paul Parker(Late Models) Rod Snellenberger(IMCA Stockcars) Todd Wiese(IMCA Sportmods) Cody Junio(IMCA Hobby Stocks) and James Dahlstrom(Street Stocks.)
Russ Reinwald led the opening lap of the IMCA Modified Feature before heading down pit lane during a caution on lap two. Tim Czarneski grabbed the top spot on the restart and pulled the field by a half straightaway. Benji LaCrosse maneuvered his way through the field and got to the runner-up spot by lap ten. LaCrosse ran down Czarneski and a game of chess ensued. LaCrosse would try multiple lines with the leader maintaining the top of the track. With two laps remaining the duo reached lapped traffic. With the white flag in the air, Czarneski got behind a lapped vehicle on top of the track allowing LaCrosse to move to the bottom quicker than the leader. LaCrosse was able to stay down low and get just enough bite to hold off Czarneski at the line. Shawn Kilgore finished in third after a run from mid pack. Josh Long finished fourth with Brad Lautenbach finishing fifth after an early race incident.
Barry VanStraten used his outside starting spot to lead the field after the drop of the green flag in the IMCA Stock Main Event. VanStraten dealt with Tony Bouche and Evan Madden early. Madden found his power down low with Snellenberger right behind. Madden moved into the top spot down low on lap eight. It wouldn’t last long as Madden pushed in turn one the next lap giving the race winning move to Snellenberger. Snellenberger would lead the rest of the way that would see one more caution with four laps to go. Snellenberger kept the field at bay in picking up the win over Madden and VanStraten. Shawn Havel out dueled Derek Moede for fourth.
Paul Parker wrestled the lead away from Aaron Holiday on the first lap of the Late Model Feature. Parker would lead by himself until a lap 10 caution would put Brett Swedberg on his back bumper. Swedberg was a bit faster through the corners but didn’t have the room down low. Swedberg would give Parker some help off the corners for a few straight laps with a little contact.. Parker stayed true to the bottom and picked up the win over Swedberg. Ron Berna went to the top of the track a little to late as he powered up to the duo. He would finish third ahead of Nick Anvelink and Tom Naeyart.
Hunter Parsons would lead the IMCA Sportmod Feature through a series of early race cautions. Todd Wiese would use the cautions to support his case for being the top dog on this night. Wiese used a restart on lap eight to get passed Parsons and into the clearing. Wiese stayed way out in front of the field late to pick up the impressive win. Chris Budzban finished second after getting around Jarred VanLaanen late in the race. Parsons beat Jacob Zellner back to the line to finish fourth.
15 laps was the distance in the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature. 15 laps is how many laps Cody Junio led en route to the win. Junio staved off the advances of Dean Anhalt for the last half of the race. Anhalt would make contact with a tire in turn three allowing Junio to pull the field late. Junio picked up the win in front of Anhalt. Dan VanPay won a three car battle for third over Marcus Moede and Wes Salentine.
Jason Kostichka ran up front for the opening lap of the Street Stock A Main. James Dahlstrom ran buckshot over Kostichka and into the lead on lap two and never looked back in the caution free race. He picked up his first career Luxemburg Speedway Feature win. Scott Boulanger finished second and improved his point lead after two nights. Scott Karbon finished third with Gary Kasperek and Justin Mahlberg also finishing in the top five.
Next Friday Night, May 15th will be Veteran’s Night at Luxemburg Speedway. THE LATE MODELS WILL NOT BE RUNNING. Triangle Distributing and Bayland Building will be sponsoring the races that start at 7 p.m. Go to www.Luxemburgspeedway.com for all the track information.
