This Friday Night Eagle River Speedway will have it’s season opener. The 1/3rd mile Tri-Oval enters it’s 41st season under new ownership and management. The track was purchased this spring by . The track will be managed by Kevin Dawson. Dawson has been in Stock Car Racing for 40 years.

While the track has changed ownership, racers and fans will continue to see WISSOTA Sanctioned Midwest Modifieds and Street Stock. Every year some of the top racers competing on a National level in WISSOTA have made Eagle River Speedway their ‘home’ track.

The track will continue to have the Micro Sprint 600’s. A winged motorcycle engine class that has Sprint-Style cars hitting speeds over 90 MPH.

The popular Pure Stock class will return, as will Trucks. Eagle River Speedway was also the track to give the 5 to 12 year olds the chance to race on the legendary tri-oval. They do this in the Junior Sprint class.

“We’re also going to be holding special races throughout the summer, including the WISSOTA Midwest Modified Special and the Modified Shoot-out,” commented Dawson.

The track was built in 1974 by Ken Glembin. For the past 5 years it was owned by Mark and Sandy Glembin. It was the exceptional conditions of the track surface for the racers that brought racers from throughout Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to race at Eagle River Speedway.

“This is an important part of the entire ‘race’ package that we will continue. We have kept the staff that the Glembin’s had, and will focus on both the conditions for the racers, and an affordable and exciting form of family entertainment for the fans. That’s the ‘package,’ I’m talking about…great place to race and a great track to watch racing at,” remarked Dawson.

The pits will open at 4:00 pm CT, with the gates opening at 5:00 pm CT. Hot Laps will start at 7:00 pm CT, with Racing to start at 7:30 pm CT. Adult Admission will be $11.00, Youth between the ages of 6 and 15 will be $6.00, 5 and under Free.
