JEREMY ANSCHUTZ & JAMES DAHLSTROM TASTE VICTORY LANE FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THUNDERHILL

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) April 25, 2015 Results- Jeremy Anschutz withstood heavy pressure from “Hot Rod” Snellenberger to win his first ever IMCA Stock Car feature at Thunderhill Raceway. Other feature winners were Todd Dart (IMCA Modified), Todd Wiese (IMCA Sport Mod), Dave Schmidt (IMCA Hobby Stock) and James Dahlstrom (Street Stock)

Jeremy Anschutz gained control of the IMCA Stock Car feature on lap 3 after Scott Reinhardt tagged the wall. Reinhardt was able to continue after a trip down pit lane. Rod Snellenberger wasted no time jumping to the runner up spot where he began to pressure Anschutz down low. Snellenberger took the lead on lap 6 but Anschutz came storming back up top to regain the lead. While trying to find a little extra grip down low, Snellenberger clipped an infield tire allowing defending champ Dave Bouche to sneak by. Snellenberger and Bouche waged a physical battle for second as sparks flew and sheet metal was wrinkled. In the end it was Anschutz cruising to the win over Bouche. Snellenberger had to settle for third, Tony Bouche took home fourth in his Ford Thunderbird and Jamie Suchocki completed the top five.

Todd Wiese proved he will be a contender for the 2015 IMCA Sport Mod title, with a dominating clean sweep. With it being opening night, the lineups were set by the standard draw-redraw format which put Wiese on the pole for the feature. He survived mid-race caution that put defending track champion Chris Budzban and veteran racer Randy LeMieux Jr. on his back bumper. Wiese was up for the challenge leading every lap of the A-main. Budzban was able to secure second on the final lap over LeMieux. Jarred VanLaanen placed fourth and Tom Stark salvaged a fifth place finish despite clipping the wall, knocking off half his rear spoiler.

Greg Gretz looked to be the man to beat early on in the IMCA Modified feature. Defending champion “Felix” Todd Dart worked his way from fifth to second in the first 10 laps. Dart in a new Mad Man Chassis began to close in on Gretz for the top spot midway through the contest. Dart was able to find just a little more traction, making the winning pass on Gretz with 4 laps remaining. It was a clean sweep for Dart. Gretz held on for second, Tyler Hackett was third, Eric Arneson fourth and Tyler DeBouche fifth. The race went green to checker.

The Street Stocks also crowned a first time winner as “Buckshot” James Dahlstrom inherited the lead with 5 laps remaining to score the win after Billy LeMieux’s racer dramatically slowed while leading. Josh Massart made his return to the division placing second, former champ Phil Faustini was third, rookie Michael Wagner fourth and LeMieux was credited with fifth.

Dave Schmidt swiped the lead away from CJ Weckler to score the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. Marcus Moede made a late race charge to place second, Weckler finished third, fourth place went to Dean Anhalt in his first trip to Thunderhill and Amber Weidner brought home fifth. The feature went green to checker.

Racing starts at 6 p.m. next Saturday, May 2 and will be brought to you by Marchant’s Meats of Sturgeon Bay.
