The Race For the Chase Has Officially Started at 141 Speedway
on April 19, 2015 at 10:21 am141 Speedway kicked off the much anticipated season with a bang on Saturday night. 147 drivers signed in to do battle and be one of the first cars to lock up their spot in the chase.
Brad Lautenbach picked up his first IMCA Modified win of the season and a $1000 pay day courtesy of Prestige Custom Cabinetry.
Other drivers that punched their tickets on the first night to the chase with feature wins in their respective divisions were: John Heinz(IMCA Stockcars) Cody Schroeder(IMCA Sportmods) Kodi Wirtz(Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals) Scott Boulanger(Street Stocks) and Mike Montie(IMCA Sport Compacts.)
Brad Lautenbach was able to pick the lucky number one pill for the IMCA Modified Feature. Lautenbach had to wait to lead any laps as the race saw four cautions before the first lap was completed. The drivers put on a show from there as the race went caution free. Lautenbach stayed in charge with Brian Mullen and Benji LaCrosse falling in behind. LaCrosse would try to make his move on top early but would fade giving third to Johnny Whitman. Mullen started searching halfway through the feature up on top the track. Mullen would get close a couple times but could never challenge for the win. Lautenbach picked up a comfortable win and a $1000 pay day. Mullen finished second followed by Whitman, LaCrosse and Andy Kleczka in his A modified debut.
John Heinz showed why he is a former champ in the IMCA Stockcar division. Heinz showed up and dominated the evening scoring a clean sweep by winning both the feature and heat. Heinz took the green flag and checked out from the field. He won by a full straightaway. The battle for second got exciting for drivers and fans alike. Luke Lemmens started eleventh and moved into second late in the race over Bret Koehler and Dave Bouche. Lemmens would lose a tire on the final lap but try to nurse it home. Koehler and Lemmens would make contact on the final corner sending both cars to the infield. Koehler got to the line quickest and finished second. Bouche came shooting in for third. Lemmens finished fourth with three wheels. Brett Wenzel finished fifth in his return to the division.
Cody Schroeder started his second year in the division with an impressive win in the IMCA Sportmod division. Schroeder grabbed the lead early but a rear view mirror full of Travis Arenz came with it. Arenz settled for second early through some cautions but made his move on lap seven. Arenz grabbed the lead down low but a caution came out on the same lap giving the lead back to Schroeder. Arenz pressured Schroeder the rest of the way but couldn’t make the pass. Schroeder picked up the win and the early season point lead over Arenz. Scott Boyea won a race long battle with Hunter Parsons for third. Kevin Bethke came from mid-pack to finish fifth.
The Grand National division was able to test their yellow flag formation as the race saw eight cautions throughout the race. Brian Cesar was the early race leader until lap five. Kodi Wirtz made the race winning move on Cesar up top and sat through the final cautions. Charlie Sancinati made his bid for the lead mid-race but Wirtz was to strong. Wirtz picked up the win in front of Sancinati comfortably. Don Sorce came from the middle of the pack to finish third. Brian Gilles finished fourth after being in an early caution and restarting at the rear of the field. Don Schumacher started the race 21st and charged through the field to finish with a top five.
Scott Boulanger has decided to run 141 this season under the Street Stock banner. He started it off with an impressive win. Boulanger had Mike Conard on the back bumper for the majority of the race. Conard couldn’t find enough momentum to make the pass. Boulanger had a close call late in the race as he entered lapped traffic. Boulanger was able to get through smoothly and pick up the win in front of Conard. Paul Diefenthaler finished ahead of Kraig Koehler for third. Josh Mcdonald started the season off with a top five.
Mike Montie passed Matt Brehmer early in the IMCA Sport Compact Main Event. Montie would lead every lap en route to the win over Brehmer. The win for Montie makes him the first feature winner in Wisconsin under the IMCA Sport Compact division. Roger Braun came home third in front of Justin Erickson and Dustin Delveaux.
