(Sturgeon Bay, WI) March 24, 2015 Thunderhill Raceway Press Release- The Thunder Truck division will offer everyone an affordable option to get into dirt track racing. Racers will be allowed to race a 4 or 6 cylinder engine in a 2004 or older 2-wheel drive pickup trucks.

The engine and transmission must remain bone stock. ALL rules will be STRICTLY enforced by the class rep. If it doesn’t say it in the rules, its illegal. Drivers will be allowed to run a locked rear-end with your choice of a mini-spool or welded spider gears. Racing seats are mandatory. Roll cage must consist of a 4-point cage with rear down bars, 3 door bars on each side constructed of 1.75”x.095 round tubing. In order to make sure the division stays entry level, every driver will get paid the same amount regardless of where you finish.

The new division is the brain child of Greg Hermann. Hermann owner of Thunder Rock Fabrication. Hermann was the driving force behind the success of the Grand National division which has been a main stay in North Eastern Wisconsin. He wanted to make it possible for anyone to be able to build a truck in a week and go racing for a fraction of the cost of anything on track today. Hermann believed in the division so much he built a truck and completed countless test laps to ensure safety, drivability and durability. “I haveat least 200 laps on it.” It was a truck we picked out of the bone yard, knocked the windows out, welded in a cage, slapped on set of cheap part store shocks and locked the rear-end. It has over 200,000 miles on it and it was a blast to drive.”

Drivers will be able to race at 3 different tracks per week throughout the summer in hopes of everyone gaining experience, getting an adrenaline rush and most of all having fun. The Thunder Trucks will be racing at EWSC Friday nights at the Manitowoc Expo, Saturday at Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay and every other Sunday at Seymour Speedway.
