2015 Spring Thaw Saturday April 4
on March 20, 2015 at 7:23 amSeymour, March 19 – N.E.W. DIRT has been busy finalizing the plans for the 2015 season at the Seymour Speedway.
The 32nd season at the 1/3 mile banked clay oval will kick off with the Spring Thaw special event on Saturday, April 4th, with racing starting at 1 PM. The program will feature IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars and Sport Mods along with the Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders. The WDLMA Late Models will also open up their 2015 campaign during the afternoon program.
The positive weather so far has high hopes to get this program in this year. It has been snowed out the past 2 years. The remaining snow was removed from the track on March 8th and track crews were able to completely groom the track on March 14. Work continues on a daily basis to ensure a perfect track for the opener.
The weekend will kick off with an open practice session on Friday night, April 3rd, from 5 – 8 PM. Cost will be $20 per person to enter the pit. The Grandstand will be open FREE for fans wishing to watch.
The pit gates will open at 10 AM on Saturday. All cars will draw/redraw for the program. Draw cut off will be 12 noon. Drivers meeting will take place at 12:15 with racing starting at 1 PM. Pit pass will be $30. for anyone entering the pit.
The grandstand will open at 11 AM. Admission for the Spring Thaw event will be $15.00 for adults 19-55. Students 13-18 and seniors over 55 will be $10. Kids 12 and under FREE with paid adult.
In the event that the race cannot be run on April 4, and Easter is the 5th, it will be rain dated for Saturday, April 11 with all times remaining the same. We can also use Sunday April 12 if needed as no other tracks are opening until the 18th.
If the Thaw race is run on the 4th as planned, there will be a regular race run on Saturday the 11, with racing at 1 PM.
Neither of the first 2 weekends will be for track points. Drivers will NOT have to be club members to compete on either weekend. Memberships are $10.00 and will be available at each race to avoid the rush on opening night.
The official point season will begin on Sunday April 19 with racing at 5:30 PM. Pit gates will open at 3 PM with the grandstand at 4 PM. All drivers MUST be a club member to compete on the regular programs starting the 19th. Pit passes will be $25. for anyone entering the pit. Grandstand prices will remain the same as 2014 with Adults 19 – 55 $11.00, Students 13-18 and seniors over 55 are $8.00. Kids 12 and under are FREE with paid adult.
There will not be any racing at the Seymour Speedway the weekend of April 26th as the FFA auction takes over the fairgrounds.
Racing resumes on Sunday May 3 and will continue Every Sunday night through September 13th.
The Spectator Eliminators will return this season as well starting on May 3rd and will run every other week as last year. Added to the program this year on the weeks the Spectator cars are off will be the new Thunder Trucks.
The season will see the return of the Summer Holiday Classic series on Sundays May 24, July 5 and September 6.
The WDLMA Late Models will make 2 additional appearances this season as part of their WDLMA Lucky Seven series.
The INEX Legends are ssheduled for a June 7 program with the IRA Sprints returning to Seymour on August 2.
Plans are still being worked out for a return of racing to the Outagamie County Fair on Sunday July 26th.
The final point night of the season will be on the Holiday Classic on Labor Day weekend September 6th.
There will be a final non point race run on Sunday September 13th.
In all, there are 23 dates on the 2015 schedule which will be one of the busiest in the clubs 32 years promoting the racing here at the Seymour Speedway.
