TRACK CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT THUNDERHILL RACEWAY

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) August 31, 2014 Press Release- After one of best and most competitive seasons in recent memory, champions were crowned for the 2014 season at Thunderhill Raceway. We fought mother nature all day, but in the end the rain wouldn’t stop and our final night was washed out. “Thank you to everyone who helped pack and to all the drivers, fans, crews, workers and sponsors who waited it out with us.” “Thanks to everyone for making this such a great season.”-Woody

The 2014 season saw fresh clay and arguably one of the best dirt racing surfaces in North East Wisconsin . Drivers who competed in at least 75% of the races will be eligible for the $30,000 contingency give-away at The Draft Haus for the awards banquet.

The Kelsey Racing IMCA Modifieds saw the return of “Felix” Todd Dart to full time action. Algoma’s Dart was dominant the entire year, winning 8 features en route to the championship. He was the only Modified driver with multiple feature wins. Dart now holds 8 titles and 55 feature wins at Thunderhill.

Dave “The Bulldozer” Bouche of Algoma etched his name in the record books of the Olson Fabrication IMCA Stock Cars, becoming the first driver to earn 3 consecutive track championships in the division. Bouche finished no worse than 7th place the entire season, taking home 1 heat race and 1 feature win. This is Bouche’s 4th track championship at the Hill, the other coming in the Street Stocks.

The LaVine’s Ice IMCA Northern Sport Mods crowned a first time champion as “Budzo” Chris Budzban of Luxemburg secured the title. Budzo had a career year with 1 heat race win along with a division best 3 feature wins. Budzban also placed 2nd in points at Luxemburg Speedway.

Green Bay’s Jeremy Jauquet also became a first time champion, taking the crown in the Lackie Rentals IMCA Hobby Stocks. Since moving over from the IMCA Stock Car division, Jauquet has been a force to be recon with. Jauquet, a hired gun for the Ryan Rohr owned machine was best in the division with 6 features wins.

Geno Sternard of Sturgeon Bay rallied late in the season to earn his second Reese’s Auto Body Street Stock title. Consistency was the key for the veteran Street Stock driver as he had a solid string of top 5 finishes. Sternard’s last title came in 2010.
