CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT PLUS TRAILER RACE OF DESTRUCTION AUG 30 AT T-HILL
(Sturgeon Bay, WI) August 27, 2014- It all comes down to this Saturday night August 30 at Thunderhill Raceway. Champions in all five divisions will be crowned. The points battles are still up for grabs in every single division. After the final feature of 2014 the second installment of the Trailer Race of Destruction will take place. The evening will feature a Halloween “Trick-or-Treat” theme for anyone who wants to join in on the fun. The entire nights festivities will be brought to you by Floors by Josh. Racing starts at 6pm
Thunderhill will NOT be having a special that was scheduled for September 6. There was a double booking at the track, so the special has been cancelled.
The incredibly tight points battles are giving drivers sleepless nights. The crews will be going through the race cars with a fine tooth comb to make sure every nut and bolt is tight. New spark plus, timing checked and several new tires will be mounted up for the final push. For many drivers the season starts with hopes of a championship. By July you can see who the contenders are. On championship night some maybe mathematically still in the hunt but for the most part, it’ll come down to the top two drivers in each class.
The IMCA Stock Cars feature a battle with in a battle. 2-time defending champion Dave Bouche looks to become the first ever Stock Car driver to earn 3 consecutive titles. Bouche leads Shawn Havel by 3 points. Havel is hungry for that first ever title. Charlie Kroll sits 12 back and is still in the hunt but will need some good luck, bad luck fortune for the drivers in front of him.
Point leader Felix Dart looks for his 8th championship in the IMCA Modifieds. He leads 2-time defending champ James Tebon by 14 points. With a neighboring track having off, it’s possible extra cars could show up and play into how the night unfolds.
Chris Budzban clings to a 6 point margin over Ryan LeMieux in the IMCA Sport Mods. Both drivers are very motivated to do what it takes to earn their first ever track championship. Jarred VaLaanen sits third in the standings 16 points back and will a need a lot of luck to play out.
Street Stock points are very tight as former champ Geno Sternard leads Kevin Luedtke by just 3 points. Luedtke is looking for his first title. Jeremy Dubois sits third in points 12 behind the leader.
Jeremy Jauquet leads Derek Moede by 4 points heading into the final IMCA Hobby Stock feature of the year. Moede is currently leading the Wisconsin state points and at Luxemburg Speedway. Jauquet will have his hands full trying to fend off Moede for his first ever title.
Five divisions do battle every Saturday night through the summer. IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Northern Sport Mod, IMCA Hobby Stock and Street Stocks will compete on the 1/3rd mile clay oval.
