Friday, August 8th, 2014, Manitowoc WI. – A grand night of racing at the fast third mile at the Manitowoc County Fairgrounds. The racy surface made for some hectic racing across all divisions .
GRAND NATIONALS
The first feature event of the evening pulled out of Turn 4 with 74 Chad Ninmer (Cleveland) on the pole, 47 Nick Schumacher (Eagle), 42 Nick Strobbe (Germantown), 93 Daniel Schumacher (Milwaukee), and 21 Kevin Lubach (Elkhart Lake) filling out the top 5. The black and white 47 of Schumacher ran out to the first lap lead with Ninmer and Dan Schumacher in his tire tracks. The black 93 of Dan made quick work of Ninmer and set off to chase down his brother. Lap 4 produced the only caution for an incident in Turn 3 & 4 involving 7s Tim Simon (Fon du Lac) and 95 Donny Kulow (Plymouth), which also collected X Brian Cesar and 8j Matt Jackson (Sheboygan), with all cars except Simon being finished for the night. Lubach who had wrestled the lead from Nick Schumacher the lap before, led the restart followed by Nick & Dan Schumacher, 7 Brian Gilles (Plymouth) and 37 Ryan Minster (Sheboygan). Gilles rolled through the Schumachers on the restart, pushing into 2nd, then on Lap 8 moved around Lubach for the lead. At the halfway mark it was Gilles, N. Schumacher, Minster, Lubach, D. Schumacher, 34 Steven Weber (Plymouth), 77 Kody Wirtz (Milwaukee) and Strobbe. Minster moved around Schumacher, but could not chase down Gilles as he collected another feature win. Minster rolled through runner-up, followed by N. Schumacher, Dan Schumacher, Lubach, Wirtz, Weber, Ninmer, and Strobbe. Hard Chargers Minster and Wirtz both picked up 9 positions.

BAILEIGH INDUSTRIAL LATE MODELS
The Baileigh Industrial Late Models thundered out 2 x 2 with 79 Jim Schmidt (Cleveland) on the pole and 20 Joe Reuter (Shawano), 37 Jim Zdroik, 70 Brian Gilles, 74 Russ Scheffler (Waukesha) and 97 Justin Schmidt (Cleveland) filling out the top 6. Schmidt pulled out to the early lead followed by Reuter, Zdroik, Russ Scheffler, and 74m Mitch McGrath (Waukesha). Yellow flew on Lap 4 as 79 Schmidt and 74 Scheffler got involved in Turn 3 & 4, while 97 Schmidt rolled into the pits retiring for the night. This put Reuter out front on the restart with McGrath, Zdroik, Gilles, 15s Rick Scheffler (Waukesha) and 7b Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah) in the top 6. Rick in the 15s used his outside starting spot to charge past 4 cars and slide into 2nd off the green, while 74 Scheffler and Schmidt tried to battle their way back forward. Rick Scheffler cruised around Joe “the Show” for the lead on Lap 7, leaving him to battle McGrath and Buhler. At the halfway point it was 15s Rick, McGrath, Reuter, Buhler, Zdroik and 8 Bob Cullen (Chilton). The leaders started moving into lapped traffic on Lap 15, adding a little adventure to the mix. With 5 to go it was still Rick Scheffler out front, with McGrath, Buhler, Reuter and 74 Scheffler battling it out. Rick Scheffler rolled through the checkers for the win, followed by McGrath, Buhler, Reuter, Scheffler, Gilles, and Jim Schmidt. Hard Charger honors to Buhler picking up 8 positions.

DEFAUT AUTO SPORTMODS
The Defaut Auto Sportmods showed a top 5 of 2k Rick Kretschmann (Sheboygan Falls), 53 Gary Glander (Sheboygan Falls), 34 Cody Eickberg (Plymouth), 55p Michael Plate Sr. (Valders), and 84 Bradley Ruh (Elkhart Lake). The race never got started as an incident involving Eickberg, Ruh, and Rief in Turn 4 sent all of them to the pits, along with 22b Steve Schneider (Chilton, subbing for Brandon Berth). All four drivers returned for the restart, all at the back of the pack. Eickberg spun in Turn 2 on the restart, bringing out another yellow, and retiring for the event. When the race finally got started Kretschmann pulled out to a lead, followed by Rief, 20 Cody Schroeder (Manitowoc), Plate, and 17x Eric Schribner (Waldo). Scribner slowly climbed through the field into the runner up spot to challenge Kretschmann for the lead, taking it away on Lap 5. Lap 6 produced another yellow, this time for Schroeder who spun out in Turn 3 & 4, while 63b Jesse Brey (Two Rivers) rolled into the pits for repairs. Scribner led the field back to green, only to be back under caution again a lap later as Kretschmann and 25 Travis Arenz (Sheboygan) got together in Turns 3 & 4. Brey returned for the restart, while Scribner led Schneider, Rief, and Ruh back to green. At halfway it was Scribner, Schneider, Reif, Schroeder, Ruh, and Plate. Schneider continued to work Scribner under green, while Arenz and Kretschmann worked their way back through the field after their caution. Schneider caught Scribner and took over the point on Lap 15, while Schroeder and Arenz battled hard for 4th. Rolling through checkers, it was Schneider for the win, Scribner, Arenz, Schroeder, Rief, and Kretschmann. Scribner collected Hard Charger honors picking up 12 positions.

The Sport 4 feature rolled out with 27f Tony Fletcher, 8g Ronald Goeser, 44 Shaun Bangart (Chilton), 7m Chris Maas, and 3 Justin Erickson (Plymouth) as the top 5. Ben Meyerhofer (Menasha) in the 07m moved through from his 6th starting spot to take the early lead, followed by Bangart, Maas, 146 Brody Rivest (Plymouth) and Ronald Goeser. Halfway in it was still Meyerhofer out front, Bangart, Rivest, 22jr Ralph Liegeois Jr (Abrams), and 3g Branden Goeser (Chilton). Meyerhofer continued to hold off Bangart, and would cross the line taking home the trophy. Following him through were Bangart, Liegeois, Rivest, Maas, and B. Goeser. Hard charger to Liegeois picking up 8 spots.
