JIM FALLS, WI (August 10, 2014) – Kid’s Night sponsored by Bellatoria Pizza and Gordy’s County Market brought out a nice crowd as one of the best traditions on local track continued at the Eagle Valley Speedway. Driver’s brought their cars out on the track and fans are able to walk among the racecars, drivers, and pit members. They get candy, pictures, and autographs in an event that will help keep racing alive well into the future. Those fans were greeted by terrific racing in all six classes with the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks, and EVS Pure Stocks, and EVS Hornets. Winners included Kevin Adams, Curt Myers, Michael Truscott, Danny Richards, Mike Knopps, and Scott Westaby.

Once again, entering the week, Kevin Adams was leading and Mike Anderson was fifth in National Points. Adams had already won at Rice Lake Speedway the night before and Anderson was relegated to a backup motor after losing an engine while leading the feature four laps shy of the finish at Red Cedar Speedway. However, for half of the event, neither looked like they were going to win the Modified feature as Matt Leer and Jesse Glenz led the field to green with Leer taking the lead. Glenz settled into second and Adams found his way to third as the entire field ran in the ultra-high groove.

The race was shaping up to be a freight train along the top when at about the halfway point, the caution flag flew for a spinning Luke Schilling. What ensued thereafter was an absolute treat for any fan of aggressive racing and the powerful Modifieds themselves. On the restart, Leer bolted into the lead as Adams followed into second. A fourth turn slider found Adams in the lead but Leer immediately ducked back under regaining the spot down the front stretch. One lap later, again in turn four, Adams slid into the lead, this time as Leer tried to make the same move as the previous lap but spun after apparent contact with a Glenz who was trying to make it a three car battle. Glenz was called for the caution and relegated to the rear.

Leer regained his lead for the restart as Adams chose to start on the outside of Anderson who was scored in third. The first attempt to start was aborted after Glenz spun. On the restart, Anderson drove deep and slid into the lead but as he and Leer battled down the backstretch, Adams gained inside position and powered to the point. Adams drove home to another feature win, followed by Anderson. Leer jumped the cushion with a few laps remaining and faded, eventually pulling off the track, and Jake Hartung raced to third. Glenz and Schilling rounded out the top five in the very entertaining event.

The Super Stock feature had Matt McEathron and Tony Falkner setting the pace. McEathron spun in front of the entire field at the start and somehow was missed by every car. Curt Myers, who is still hot in the hunt for a National Points Championship was called for the caution and sent to the rear. On the second attempt to start, Falkner drove into the lead, followed by Tommy Richards. By the midpoint of the race, Myers had worked his way to third but Falkner continued to lead as he was having the run of his lifetime. A three way battle for the lead began, as Myers overtook second. Falkner however, continued his assault on the cushion and led the field. Myers worked his way past Falkner but the caution was thrown for a spinning McEathron. Falkner regained the point for the restart and held the lead. A spinning Trent Barnhardt brought out the final caution of the event and Myers capitalized on the restart as he powered into the lead and drove home to yet another feature win. Falkner finished a very impressive second as Richards, James Cimfl, and Sam Fankhauser, driving Mark Stender’s car, finished out the top five.

The Midwest Modifieds came to green behind Bob Wood and Antonio Pintaro but a spinning Karl Kolek forced a second attempt. On the start, Wood drove to the lead as Michael Truscott, who also is chasing a National Points title settled into second. Wood ran strong but Truscott moved into the lead on an inside pass. By the halfway point, Truscott was in control and Nick Koehler had raced to second. A caution brought out by Jason Richardson again reset the field. Upon the restart, Truscott continued to lead as Koehler and Kent Baxter fought for second. Koehler secured the position as Baxter, Shane Halopka, and Pintaro filled out the top five finishers.

The Street Stock feature found and immediate three wide battle for the lead as Mike Knudson held the point as he raced Adam Soltis and Danny Richards. Jake Hanson spun running in fourth and brought out the caution. The three front runners immediately went back to their terrific battle as they went three wide for the lead multiple times. Soltis drove around the bottom as Knutson took the high side. The two sandwiched Richards as he drove the middle. Richards was able to find an advantage and drive to the lead. A Chris Johnson caution reset the field but on the start, Richards secured the point and drove to the win. Soltis won a hard fought battle for second over Knudson. Carolyn Nosser and Heidi Karshbaum, the two women drivers in the field finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Pat Smith and Mike Knopps owned the front row of the Pure Stock feature and Knopps powered into the lead and never looked back as the race ran cover to cover, caution free. A last place starting Todd Roshell raced to second but never challenged for the win. George Richards, Mike Chaplin, and Pat Smith finished in the top five.

Chuck Ward and Shane Lindseth were in the front row for the Hornets however, a fifth starting Travis Hoff drove to the lead. As Hoff led the first half of the race, the eighth starting Scott Westaby worked his way to second and began to challenge for the win. Westaby gained the point as Hoff remained close to the end. A spirited three car battle for third was waged between Jay Welk, Bob Seidler, and Armond Love.

Racing will resume on Sunday August 17, 2014, with the Lonnie Leu Memorial sponsored by Lisa Leu and Krug’s Towing. Once again, there will be a kid’s bike giveaway sponsored by Kelly Oium Well Drilling of Strum and Kris Oium Asphalt Paving of Eleva. One lucky boy and one lucky girl will win a bike!
