With 4 Weeks Remaining in the 2014 Season, Budzo Racing Gears Up for Championship Run

This past Wednesday night, we made the trip to Thunderhill Raceway for Fair Night at the track. With storms looming over the track, we had to push the show at a quick pace to avoid a washout for our features.
Starting last (7th) in the heat race, I made quick work to shoot up to the final invert spot (5th) while running behind Bernie Reinhardt and Rick LeMieux. Patiently waiting for an opening, I was able to pass both with 2 laps remaining to finish in the 3rd spot.
Starting 9th on the grid for the feature, I used the low line to shoot up to the 6th spot. From there, I moved to the high line of the race track to track down the top 5. I would move into 5th and make a late charge around the outside of Randy LeMieux on the white flag lap to finish a strong 4th. With Ryan LeMieux finishing in 2nd place, my points lead has now been cut to 3.
On Friday night at Luxemburg, I was again starting alone at the tail of the field for my heat race. After avoiding a collision with Brandon Long, I charged back to catch the field and worked the bottom of the track. I would get by Jeremy Cota and Shawn Umentum to get to 4th, and with 2 laps remaining went to the outside of Wayne Haines to grab a 3rd place finish.
Starting 11th in the feature, I stayed low on the track in the early going. There was not much movement on the track, and a caution flag flew which put me on the outside line on the restart. I had a few good laps running the outside, but from the middle of the race to the end I couldn’t make up any ground. I would end up finishing in 12th place. With points leader Andy Kleczka suffering mechanical issues, we are now only 6 points out of the lead.
The final 4 weeks of the 2014 points season should be exciting for us and for the fans as well. We’ll be back at Luxemburg Speedway this Friday night and also at Thunderhill Raceway on Saturday night.
