National Points Runners Run Strong
JIM FALLS, WI (August 03, 2014) – Quality Propane sponsored the racing action at Eagle Valley Speedway on Sunday, August 03, 2014, presenting the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks, and EVS Pure Stocks, and EVS Hornets. Winners included Kevin Adams, Curt Myers, Michael Truscott, Danny Richards, George Richards, and Johny Severtson.
Although the Modified feature only had seven cars, the quality was second to none with several multi Modified feature winners and Grant Southworth, a Midwest Modified hot shoe jumping into Bryan Nayes’ Quality Propane car. Entering the week, Kevin Adams was leading and Mike Anderson was fifth in National Points and both had posted clean sweeps already on the weekend at the Red Cedar and Rice Lake Speedways. Jesse Glenz, flanked by Neil Balduc led the field to green with Balduc taking the point early. The racing action behind the leader was intense as cars jockeyed for position. The lone caution flag flew when Southworth spun, nearly collecting Anderson. The race changed on the restart as second place Jake Hartung chose the outside of Adams. As the cars took the green flag and entered into turn one, Adams drove in extremely deep and was able to complete a successful slide up in front of the leader in turn two. From there, he checked out on the rest of the field winning his 15th feature of the 2014 season. Behind him, a terrific four car battle ensued finishing with Hartung in second followed by Balduc, Anderson, and Glenz.
The Super Stock feature had much less suspense as Jeff Brauer and Chad Jonson set the pace. Brauer lead lap one, but fifth starting Curt Myers charged to the lead on lap two. The only caution of the race flew for a spinning Curt Hazelton and the restart had Myers in the lead as Brauer chose to start outside of Tommy Richards. Myers made quick work at stretching his lead and drove home for his 18th feature win on the season as he makes a strong bid for a National Championship, entering the week third in points. Brauer finished second, followed home by Richards, Wayne Harris, and Johnson.
The Midwest Modifieds came to green behind Antonio Pintaro and Michael Truscott, who also entered the week leading the National Points. Truscott blasted into the lead and never looked back, running unchallenged to his 17th feature win on the year. The race itself was slowed near halfway for debris with a strong running Pintaro choosing the outside beside Grant Southworth. Upon the restart, Truscott continued to dominate and Southworth secured second. A great race for third through fifth ensued as Nick Koehler, John Feirn, and Pintaro battled to the end.
Jordan Kurtti and Jake Hanson set the pace for the Street Stocks but forth starting Danny Richards grabbed the early lead and never looked back winning his seventh feature of the season. Behind him, rookie Jake Hanson ran second and was challenged at every turn by Adam Soltis, who entered the week forth in National Points. A good battle was waged every lap of the race as Soltis secured the spot in the last circuit. Hanson finished a very strong third, as Kurtti and Mike Knudson rounded out the top five.
Tucker Quinn and Jay Barnier Jr. filled the front row of the Pure Stock feature and just like his brother earlier on the night, George Richards raced to the lead from the forth position in the first lap. Richards drove unchallenged to his 11th feature win of the season as the action waged behind him as several cars bid for second. Todd Roshell secured the position as Barnier Jr, Pat Smith, and Quinn finished in the top five.
After two heats, twelve hornets took to the feature with Leslie Jackson and Bob Seidler in the front row. Seidler quickly took the lead as the pack followed him to the hallway point when Jasper Drengler began to challenge for the spot. As they fought, Johny Severtson entered the fray, making it a three car battle. Jay Welk crashed hard, bringing out the events only caution, setting up a three lap shootout for the win. Seidler continued to lead the field but Severtson took the lead at the white flag and drove home for the win. Seidler followed by Drengler, Jackson, and Scott Westaby finished out the top five.
Racing will resume on Sunday August 10, 2014, on Kid’s Night sponsored by Bellatoria Pizza and Gordy’s County Market. The kids will get the opportunity to see the cars and meet the drivers on the track as all six classes will be in racing action. Once again, there will be a kid’s bike giveaway sponsored by Kelly Oium Well Drilling of Strum and Kris Oium Asphalt Paving of Eleva. One lucky boy and one lucky girl will win a bike!
